The best was when they were mounting the first post-Broadway production of Victor/Victoria, which was supposed to have starred Julie Andrews (who of course had to drop out ultimately because of the vocal problems) and Anthony Newley (who had to drop out for health reasons and I think ultimately died before the damn thing ever got mounted). EVERY show opened with a "Julie update" that seemed to be dripping with a bit more desperation than the one before.
Calvin - I remember that well. During that time, TUTS called me to assist with their box office staff (I worked with all the major box office staffs downtown for ten years except the Alley, whose offers I should have accepted, looking back). They were in the middle of moving their offices and I was manning their weirdly unmarked box office outlet somewhere totally random. Just me and a desk in an empty space. No computer or phone. It was really creepy.
