Do they not offer student rush tickets for friday performances?
I'm pretty sure rush is only offered for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday performances.
Does anyone know any more about this? Talkinbroadway said to show up 2 hours before the show but would it be best to go earlier? I'm thinking of going with a few of my friends maybe Wednesday but we would like to know beforehand if this is a good idea. Also, this wouldn't be for a matinee performance, right, just the 8 PM? Sorry for all the question marks :)
Thanks!

Anyone have any speculation on this recently? What time would you suggest getting there for a Tuesday show? Especially now with Lea being in? THANKS!

I went to see Les Mis in the beginning of June for a Wednesday evening performance. They start selling the student tickets at 6:00pm. I got to the theater around 5:45pm and there were about 10-15 people on line already. But I had no problem getting tickets - I think I got row R or S in the right orchestra (which I was pretty happy with!). There were also quite a few people behind me in line and they were all able to get tickets.
Hope this helps!
it does help! Thank you
Does anyone know how many rush tickets are available? I'm thinking of lottoing Hairspray tonight and then when I lose (since I always do) I was tinking of lottoing something else...then going to Les Mis... But it sounds like maybe I should go over right after I lose Hairspray?
Get there at 5-5:30 and you'll be fine. I know someone that went yesterday and by the time he got there at like, 6:20, all the rush tix were gone, but even if you arrive at like, 6:05 you should be fine too....
I know they start giving out tickets at 5pm for a tuesday show. What time would you recommend getting to the theatre to get good rush seats for a tuesday show? Also do I need to bring my student idea or is this just general rush.
Oh and they don't rush on friday-sunday but they do sell sro.
I got there about 5:45 and managed to get tickets. But there was a line in front of me.
Though honestly? I wish I hadn't. I left at intermission and really hope I haven't totally ruined the good memories I had of the show from its original run.
So not worth it. Even Lea couldn't salvage it for me.

jordangirl where were the tickets they gave you?!
Row S on the far side. I kept thinking it was just being under the mezz overhang, but I seriously couldn't take it anymore.

do you know where the other people got their seats?
jordangirl...was the show really that bad? Details please
I'm sure if you haven't seen it, it's fine. For me, I saw the original production about a year into its run. It was still at the Broadway. Most of the original Broadway cast was still in. and I fell in love with it. It was MY show as a teenager.
This one just felt...small. The orchestra sounded extremely small and canned. Lea was great in "I Dreamed a Dream" but that was about it. The "death voice" wasn't great even for a "death voice" (that's what I call it). Many of the people I couldn't really even hear clearly ~ I don't know if speakers under the mezz weren't working tonight or what. Of the ones I could hear... Little Cosette was off-pitch on more than one occasion. But it actually worked out because "big" Cosette wasn't much better. She actually at times made Linda Balgord sound like she had no vibrato. I remember being in tears at intermission after "One Day More". But this production just didn't move me.
I've never left a show at intermission before, but I left this one. I didn't want to taint the rest of my memories of the show.
Maybe that's the problem...it's been so great in my memory for so long nothing could live up to it. Maybe it wasn't that great when I saw it...but as an 11th grader I adored it. This production just felt like...not great college or community theatre. (Before the flaming starts, I'm not saying those can't be great. They can! I'm saying that sometimes it's mediocre. And that's what this felt like to me.)
zeitoujo ~ the guys at the box office were saying that the rush seats are in the back and far sides of the orchestra. The people around me seemed to have been the others in line.
jordangirl. thats ashame- im sorry you didnt enjoy the show I've seen the revival 5 times now, last time in March and I really enjoyed each one but however I also recall seeing Les Mis when i was younger and remembering everything you mentioned so in that aspect i was a bit dissapointed too
Thanks JKlock. But hey...out of the year I've lived here and been going to shows almost every weekend, I've only come across two I REALLY didn't like. So I guess I'm lucky. Maybe I hit a bad night...other people seemed to be loving it.
Oh well. They can't all be stellar! :)
jordangirl- I saw the show on Friday and had the exact same reaction. I was a Lea Salonga fan girl in my teens, but even she did not save the production for me (though she was brilliant on stage). It was small. However the people who went with me had no prior exposire to Les Mis and loved it.
Yeah, that's what I've figured. People who either only knew the music or who didn't have any knowledge love it. Those who remember the original production are typically lukewarm at best.

As a Drew fan, I feel obliged to go while he's on as Valjean. I'm just worried that it won't be sold out enough to get SRO - $60 is more than Les Mis is worth to me.
how has the rush been lately? i'm thinking about rushing it this weekend. do you think it will be packed since a. it's the busiest week for b'way and b. it's closing pretty soon?
thanks
