As do I! I'm hoping that I didn't curse myself by getting matinee tickets.
Well, I've never been to a Saturday matinee, but if I had to guess I would say yes. Most of the cast is pretty friendly and willing to chat so I really can't imagine them (or at least certain cast members) not going out.
Good luck and have fun!

Off Topic, but is it just me or is Aaron Lazar monotone when he talks?
I'm too busy admiring his hair.
Off Topic, but is Alex Gemignani as thin as some people are saying that he's is now?
Seriously, I'm curious.
I was at Les Mis yesterday for the Saturday 2:00 performance, and waited at the stage door afterwards. The entire cast came out to sign autographs and take pictures except for Alexander and Daphne. Oh, and Aaron was still out on leave- Drew Sarich was the role of Enjolras during the performance I saw. But he came out and was very nice at the stage door as well.
Hope that helped!
When I went earlier in December everyone came out except for Alex, and Jenny just kinda walked away. The people who did come out were so nice and talked and took pictures. It was a great experience and great cast.
I went on the special Thanksgiving Friday matinee (there was also an 8pm show so it was pretty much the same situation as a Saturday) and most of the cast came out. Alex did not, as you could probably have guessed from other people's accounts...but it seems to me he may be the only one who regularly skips the stage door at matinees. Daphne, Aaron, Norm, Celia, Adam...most of the people you'll really want to see. All of them graciously signed and took photos--a very nice group.

Thanks everyone for the help, I'm surprised about Alex though, he always came out for matinees after Sweeney Todd.
Yeah that's what I thought too glinda, but I guess since this is a vocally demanding show (not that sweeney wasn't) he doesn't come out.

Alex came out when I saw it, back in previews. I also see him walking in Shubert Alley often times prior to the show.
I have to say I met Alex backstage after Les Mis and he was friendly, but clearly wanted out. I'm not so surprised that he doesn't go out after matinees. But Daphne not coming out yesterday kind of surprises me. She is usually not only out but friendly as can be and willing to spend quite a bit of time with people. Although I will say she is also usually one of the last out, so maybe you just didn't wait long enough?
A few weeks back Alex did not come out following the Wednesday matinee. Celia came out, signed and went back in for dinner. Daphne can take a while but she comes out. And yes Aaron Lazar is still out on medical leave.
I was at the evening performance on Daphne's birthday (Nov. 18th), and I am pretty sure we waited 30 minutes for her to come out. When she did, there were only about 10 people left, and she spent time with each of us and personalized our playbills for us! She was extremely gracious and friendly when two of my friends and I sang "Happy Birthday" to her (She started screaming "THAT ROCKED! THAT FREAKIN' ROCKED! BREAK LEGS... BREAK IT ALL!). Then, as she was walking away, my friend realized that she dropped her earrings, and he gave them back to her. Daphne thanked him and walked away, but then turned around and said "You know, you found them, so you can have them!".
...long story short, she was super-friendly!
Yeah, Daphne does always seem to take a while to come out. Not really sure why. I mean, by that point in the show I don't think she has that much make up on . . . and she seems to enjoy being with her fans . . . certainly spends a lot of time with us. Do we think she is avoiding the crowd?
That could be a smart move. She could then spend more quality time with those left...

It's possible that she enjoys being around a few fans but not being thrown into an atmosphere with a thick crowd. Who knows?
Provided that I get around to seeing Les Mis at some point, does anyone know if Daphne is still opposed to signing anything related to Rent (i.e. still rolling her eyes and sighing at fans who ask her to autograph Rent-related material)? I can't say I'm looking forward to seeing her live in Les Mis, but I enjoy her work in Rent and would like to have her sign something Rent-related. I realize it's obviously a sore spot for her, but I don't really feel like having her give me attitude considering I do like her in that role.
sorry to ask again...i know aaron's out, but do you know for how long??
Has Daphne ever had an attitude about signing Rent related stuff? I can't picture that. Personally I never asked her to sign anything Rent related, but I just can't picture her having an attitude about anything. I mean, as long as you are bringing her something from the show and not the movie which she was not a part of . . . which I think is what you meant anyway. She really is very friendly and doesn't seem to mind signing just about anything.
And I'm sure her avoiding the big crowds is a part of the reason why she is able to spend so long with the fans that are left. But I do wonder if she is also waiting it out so that the people left are those who truly want to meet her and not those who will be bashing her.
I know when I was there, there was a girl with the Rent coffetable book, and she signed it, but I dunno how she felt about signing it.

I asked her to sign a Rent Playbill (from back in the day) and a Rocky Horror Playbill. She was very happy to sign both and thanked me for being a fan.
The other day, a friend of mine was telling me that he asked her to sign a Rocky Horror Playbill. She took the time to write a long, personalized message on it.

I've read a couple times about her looking less than thrilled to sign anything related to Rent. I think that's partially understandable, but on the other hand, the people asking her to sign anything related to that show obviously admired her performance in it, so I'm not sure why she'd act bitter toward her own fans. And right, I'd like her to sign something related to the OBC, not the movie.
But I do wonder if she is also waiting it out so that the people left are those who truly want to meet her and not those who will be bashing her.
If that's the case, she needs to get tougher skin. If every performer had that mentality, none of them would ever leave the building, not to mention that waiting for the people who you think will bash you to leave is implicitly admitting you should be worried about people having a poor opinion of your performance in the first place.
Don't be telling Daphne about having thick skin. You don't think she knows what people say about her? She fearlessly goes up there 8 times a week and does her job like a pro. And on top of that, she is ironically the nicest person to come out of that stage door.
Thick skin, pff
