Les Mis closes.....AGAIN.

Posted: 10/29/07 at 2:17pmWhat I am wondering is why the "Valjean exchange" was done if the show was going to close three months after JOJ started his run?

Posted: 10/29/07 at 2:52pmSpeaking of the Valjean exchange, does anyone know what's going to happen with that? In other words, any info on whether the London Valjean will be JOJ or Drew Sarich after the Broadway production closes?

Posted: 10/29/07 at 2:54pmI would imagine that John Owen-Jones would return to the London production if/when the current Broadway incarnation closes.

Posted: 10/29/07 at 2:56pmI don't know... it's never been announced that the show was closing, only announcements of extensions. I'd like to believe that this will change, but the announcement seems pretty firm.

Drew said that for himself, it was JUST a six month deal with the west end's Les Miz.
Don't know what JOJ's terms were though. Wasn't it something like, he'd do 6 months here and then finish up his last 3 back home?

I WISH a casting director would get it and cast Haviland Stillwell in something awesome. Although, I have to say, I liked those songs on myspace too! Anyone know anything else about it? Sounds like a great part for her...although I'm still hoping they'll cast Haviland as Scarlett O'Hara in the gwtw musical.)

Posted: 10/29/07 at 4:04pmI understand that a show can't stay on broadway forever, what I am disappointed about is that reaction of fans that don't like the show. Now, I understand that everyone has different taste in theater, but do people think they have to kind of rub it in the face of people who do like the show? I do hope that Rona Figueroa will get at least one chance to play Fantine before the show closes, and hopfully a fan can post a review, because I thought she did a great job as Eponine and I am sure she will be a great Fantine too.

Posted: 10/29/07 at 4:08pmSomeone I know on another message board saw the show last Friday night, and Ms. Figueroa was on as Fantine. He thought she was fine, but too young to play the role.

She was on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Her acting was very good, but she's tiny and her voice is tiny and she looked about fifteen. You just kind of want to give her a hug. I loved her in Fantine's Arrest, but unlike many of the other understudies, she's not principal material.
Anderson Davis was also on as Enjolras. Gosh he's pretty, and he makes those high G's sound so easy.

It's the longest running show in the world and you want fans to be coddled over the show closing? Seriously?

Posted: 10/29/07 at 6:01pmRona played Eponine ten years ago. I doubt she's too young for Fantine; she probably just looks it.

Yes, yes they do. Why? Well first, it gets a reaction and is kind of fun (what is this board without its drama?). And second...sometimes shows just need to close and seeing it close is a good thing to many (ex Pirate Queen)

Posted: 10/29/07 at 8:01pmI feel bad that people are losing their jobs, but I don't like the show, so it isn't that much of a loss for me.

Posted: 10/29/07 at 8:29pmI would like to see a full on REVIVAL of the show in ten years time or so. It really should have been a completely new production as a revival. But that's just me.

My only gripe with saying that the show should be revived but be totally different then the original production is this. This goes for Les Miserables and the revival of A Chorus Line. There were people who felt that both shows should be revived but not be carbon copies of thier original productions. But, whe I asked them what would they do to make them different everyone that I spoke to said that they didn't know but soomething should be done.
The reaon why I am having trouble beleaving this is because the switch was slated to be a six month gig. The union trade was going te be an eyte for an eye in this case. The US Caljean for the London one. But, I don't understand why cam mac would do the deal if he planes to close the show in three months.

I was hoping we'd see more Disney princesses as Fantine. We never got Paige O'Hara (a second time), Jodi Benson, Susan Egan . . .
Now they should tour the revival.
