I was thinking of trying to get rush tickets for the matinee performance of Les Miserables. What time should I be there and should I even try to get tickets? Do you think there will be less of a crowd because Ramin is not there?
What I'm thinking at the moment is getting there at 7am.

There is no Wednesday Matinee until after the 24th of March according to broadwayforbrokepeople.com. I rushed last Wednesday and was told the same thing by the B.O. I guess they changed their mind.

I did it today. Got there at 5:30AM, but everyone who got there after about 6:30AM didn't get in.

That's crazy! Do you know about how many tickets they ended up selling for rush?

They have about 20 tickets per show. I got there both times I rushed about 5:45 and only about the first 10 people got tickets.
Broadwayforbrokepeople.com has the wrong info. Sorry for the confusion. I did it last Wednesday and the BO also said not until after opening.

However, that's incorrect as this week they switched to their regular schedule and have a performance tomorrow afternoon at 2pm. Aaron Walpole will be going on as Valjean, as the OP said.

It does pay off to get there early. Both times I rushed I was first (got there at 5:45 and 6 am) and got seats AA 2 and 4 front row with great sight lines. The people behind me had row H and J all the over to the sides. I think the first day of rush they only sold 18 tickets. Last week it was 20 on Wednesday.

BTW it is already nuts with confusion over the Pippin rush line and the Les Mis rush lines running into one another. So if you go later to the the line, make sure you are in the Les Mis line and not the Pippin line. Last Wednesday people were all messed up and confused. I was first and people kept coming up to me and thinking I was the end of the Pippin line. If you want to make sure you get tickets get there by 6 am, which is when most of the people showed up. If you are not one of the first 20 people in line since each person can buy 2 tickets, you probably will not get in and be flexible on 2 show days.
For what it's worth I have seen both Ramin and Walpole and I think they are both incredible in the role of JVJ. However, I was completely blown away by Walpole. Do not miss him. Totally worth it. I wish I was not already committed to rushing another show today or I would be there to see Walpole again.

what's the difference between tkts and rush? i just moved to nyc last month, sorry if that's a stupid question.

Rush tickets are set aside by the Box Office. They are day of tickets usually front row or obstructed view available when the box office opens and they are CHEAP.
TKTS tickets are a certain percentage off, usually 50%.
Check out Broadwayforbrokepeople.com for the list of show that offer rush or lottery tickets.

I just walked by the Les Mis rush line. About 30 plus people already.
Does the box office accept credit card payment for rush tickets? Broadwayforbrokepeople.com says that it does, but I wanted to make sure it was accurate.

Unfortunately I'm too old to wait on line for rush tickets but I applaud those who do!
What shows currently have what can be considered shorter rush lines?
I rushed Les Mis this morning. I got to the theatre around 5:50 and was 12th in line. I got two partial view orchestra tickets.
Are these rush ticket the aisle seats on the extreme sides? Also, are they only subject to availability? I wanted to try for Saturday, but there are no seats available for sale for the matinee and only a single seat for the evening.
Anyone try this lately? Would like to attempt next week.
I was rushing bullets and walked by the Imperial and it was CRAZY. like 50 something people there as of like 9:00am. Stupid.
