Oh, wow! He was great in the Big River tour. I never thought about him as Javert, but sounds like brilliant casting.

SomethingWicked... yes, I do mean Adinah Alexander from Wicked. She will be great.
And to clear up confusion... Merwin Foard will be Javert but will be leaving the production before it closes. When this happens, James Judy will be taking over the role.
And yes, most of the shows are sold out. Right now it has been extended through June 16th but will probably be extended a few more times... since it hasn't even opened yet.

My "reliable source" is in the ensemble of this show. They are slated for a possible run through June 30th. They are supposed to know by the first week in June whether it will happen for sure but the way tix are selling it looks pretty likely.

Posted: 3/27/07 at 3:06pmWell, Kirsten Wyatt will probably not stay with the production through the closing then, as she will be busy with Grease rehearsals and opening that show. Anyone know who will take over Eponine when she goes?

No replacement yet for Kirsten Wyatt who is leaving for Grease on Broadway during the run.
Merwin Forde, leaving to do Little Mermaid, is being replaced by James Judy.
There is also an ensemble member leaving early to begin rehearsals for Young Frankenstein.
Bill Solo - Valjean (u/s Jason Kraak)
Merwin Forde- Javert (u/s James Judy)
Kelly McCormick- Fantine (u/s Lauren Thomas)
Kirsten Wyatt- Eponine (u/s Meegan Mitcaff)
Trista Moldovan- Cosette (u/s Meegan Mitcaff)
Michael Halling- Enjoras (u/s David FM Vaughn)
Gregg Goodbrod- Marius (u/s Jeremiah Miller)
Adina Alexander- M. Thenardiere
Max Robinson- Thenardiere

So will there be no understudy for James Judy when he takes over as Javert? Or will there be a new person in the ensemble?
Come to think of it, is James Judy playing Grantaire? (I can totally see that.)
Thanks for the news. :)

Actually, James is not the understudy for Merwin. He is just taking over the role. There is another person from the ensemble who is understudying.
James is not playing Grantaire because it would be harder to fill him in when he takes over Javert.

Posted: 3/31/07 at 9:52pmGiven the location and the demographic of the area, are they going to be making any changes for stuff like Lovely Ladies and such?
#42Les Miserables in Utah
Posted: 3/31/07 at 10:36pmthey dont change any of their shows. Contrary to popular belief, there is a huge non-mormon population in Utah. I go there all the time for theatre. They don't change anything. I've seen gay relationships on stage in Utah. Even though many may not believe in it in real life, they never have any issues putting anything on stage.

That's good. Where I live in Arizona we have to alter everything to suit a predominately mormon population. Miss Saigon was an experience.

Posted: 4/1/07 at 12:32amIronically (and I say this as a Mormon in Utah myself), Les Miz seems to go over swimmingly with Mormon audiences. I've often thought it sort of ironic that the "dirty" material in the show flies right by them and they walk out praising its themes of forgiveness and redemption. I've never heard Utah audiences complain about the material in Lovely Ladies or Master of the House after the national tours have come through nor at any of the high school productions, which were many a few years ago.
