I wouldn't say "innocent," though. Les Miserables in Utah

I just found this board...and would like to post a couple things..

I am so excited that Les Mis is coming to SLC. Salt Lake loves Les Mis. The show at the Pioneer Memorial theatre has changed the date now 4 times...it is now playing April 27 - June 23. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes longer.

I looked at the ticket sales yesterday and according to their website there were still tickets available. I did a check for a single seat on one of the nights that was open in the area where there were a lot of sold outs and would have been able to get within the first 10 rows on the floor.

I luckily have front row for the first matinee. I am also excited as I purchased what the PTC called a RUSH PASS. It was $100. and was good for their entire season. What this entails is showing up a minimum of 1 hour before the show and you can get the best available seat. I went to Chicago and got 5th row and Pride and Predjuice and got 3rd row.

I plan on trying for the opening night.

Thank you for posting what you have found for the cast. I had only heard of William Solo and Merwin Foard.

If you check out the SALT LAKE TRIBUNE newspaper ( www. sltrib.com ) for the last 2 sundays until further notice...they are previewing what is happening with getting ready for the show.

It would be great to meet up with other LES MIS fans.

Smiling in Salt Lake City

Hey ya'll. I got a chance to talk with my friend who is working on the show and apparently things are going really well. Everyone is really working well together and they sound amazing. My friend's favorite person in the cast is Kelly McCormick. She said and I quote, "she has an amazing voice and is one of the most humble people she has had the pleasure to work with."

Just thought I'd share... = )

SLC is actually a majority non-LDS city (57% in 2003 IIRC). Especially in the Aves, Sugarhouse and 9th&9th. Heck this is a city that elected Rocky Anderson twice (I love the guy, I knew him personally, but seriously the guy is like Maxine Waters left-wing).

I remember when the tour came back in 2003. Everybody at work had tickets even those who'd I would've had peg as not being a fan of musical theatre. I guess it is something that big, that recognisable & that famous coming to town. It happened again in 2004 IIRC when POTO toured.

William Solo is a great Valjean and he's been involved in the show for a long time.

A rep from Tara Rubin Casting is being flown out to see this production for upcoming replacements in the B'way company.
A few people are leaving the B'way ensemble- both Mme Thenardiare covers for sure.

As far as bringing the entire production over from Salt Lake City....uh, highly unlikely.

p.s.

I enjoy seeing/hearing different performers in each role. I've seen 15 performances of the "Broadway Revival" with tickets in hand for eight more. And I couldn't resist ebuying seats this week for April 24th, when at least four new cast members start.

p.s. How long before there will have been so many different actors for each character in the "Broadway Revival", that it might be meaningful to start a thread about each character's best all time Les Miserables Revival performer?

Which covers have you seen? I've seen the Les Mis revival upwards of 13 times myself, and I agree that seeing different people in the show is lots of fun. There are plenty of reasons I keep going back--Aaron Lazar, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Drew Sarich, ensemble shenanigans, Lea Salonga's ad-lib cuss words, and a certain measure of mulish fan loyalty--but the hope of seeing new and different understudies is right up there at the top of the list.
