So predecessors was a bad choice of word. Mea culpa. Mea maxima culpa.
They haven't lived up to the standards that I expected from a cast of a high profile production.

That's better.
BTW: Did you strike your chest?

If Enjolras is up on the barricade, waving his big old red flag, like the poster in front of the theatre, then it isn't quite Caird's fault. Updated On: 10/28/06 at 10:51 PM

Re: Striking my chest - Sure.
BSOBW2 - I meant after he's killed. There was no emotional response, from myself, anyway, I can't speak for the crowd.
It's a well-staged show. It's very well put together. The cast is just emotionally absent. In my opinion, at least.
Yankeefan: I hope you got that reference.

What you said about Gary Beach being Roger Debris with an accent really bothers me. In my strong opinion, he totally found that character and it was different from his other roles. It was so different from Roger Debris. I will admit that a couple small little things he did were Debris-esque, but by and large, he completely found that character. His Thenardier was very distinct in both his voice and his body.
I disagree with other things you said, but that angered me.
Two people have told me so far that he's "Roger DeBris as Thénardier"...
Not to bring up old wounds, but I thought the touring cast of this show, who I saw in the engagment prior to closing in St. Louis, was PHENOMENAL. Randal Keith owned Valjean, Robert Hunt was an insane Javert, Melissa Lyons broke my heart as Eponine, need I go on?? From the video on this site and others of that open rehearsal, tour cast members were better than these current ones... I also have to say the same thing about Wicked's tour, oh wait, Sho and Megan were on tour and they are Broadway actors, how silly of me.
Well, what do you think Lizzie?
I haven't seen him.
Oh, well i suggest that you get on that! :)

I thought the Les Miz tour was incredible, but that's not always the case with all touring shows.
I understand where he/she's coming from. After watching an incredible, breath-taking performance, you don't usually hear people say things like, "Bring that person to the national tour!" You hear people say, "Bring that person to Broadway!" Generally, Broadway is where the best of the best (in most peoples' opinions) are. Not to say there aren't incredibly talented people in national tours--even those who are better than anyone you could find on Broadway--I mean, the Valjean in the tour when it closed (Randall Keith?) was absolutely amazing--best voice I have EVER heard. Not an exaggeration. My jaw dropped after his "Bring Him Home". I will never forget that performance.
I agree - the touring cast was much better, except for Eponine (Celia)- shes much better here..... Fantine was WAYYYYY better on the touring cast, she's horrible here.

See? I'm not the only one.
And I never said that there was anything wrong with Gary's performance. Gary is so charismatic that he can get away with it. I saw nothing wrong with his characterization, he was one of the best in the show.

You're the only "one" what?
You never saw the touring cast and proceeded to put them down anyway.
And now just because "ken8631" agrees with you, makes you right????
Oy, the logic.

I'm not the only one who feels that they weren't Broadway caliber. It doesn't make me right - it's only my opinion. There is no right or wrong when it comes to an opinion.
Just because you disagree with me, it doesn't mean that my opinion isn't valid.

You are not understanding what I am saying.
You say that they are not "Broadway caliber" and were more appropriate for a touring cast. YET you never saw the touring cast. How the heck would you know? You have NOTHING to compare against.

Obviously he didn't know that the touring company was very good. He was comparing it to touring shows in general. He didn't say that he was watching THE touring company, did he? He just said he felt like he was watching A touring company.
Just let it go--he didn't mean to insult the touring production of Les Miserables.

It doesn't matter if I saw the touring cast or not. I said that they seemed like "A touring company" not "THE touring company." I've seen enough to know what a touring cast is like - there could be great ones and there could be horrible ones. Like any show, Broadway, off-Broadway, or tour, there are great casts and there are bad casts. Not everything is perfect. I wasn't blown away by this cast. But, again, it's the 6th performance. Don't go against my opinions when half the people posting haven't even seen it themselves.

Damn Yankee I understand what you are saying in regards to Broadway companies vs. touring companies and if these people want to pretend there is no difference than let them. True, some touring companies are incredible but we cannot deny they are often looked upon as the bastard children of the Broadway productions. Especially a show like Les Mis which has been touring since God was a boy.
Poor theminutepast.
Since the show is being billed as a "special engagement" is it considered a revival and eligible for Tony awards?
