Les Miz Opening Night Video

Unfortunately, the Broadway.com video does not have that good a selection. They have Celia Keenan-Bolger's "On My Own", some song between Marius and Cosette, Daphne Rubin-Vega's "I Dreamed a Dream", and "One More Day". No signing from Alexander Gemignani, Norm Lewis, or Gary Beach.

I'm sorry to beat such a dead horse - but did Daphne not sound really good in that clip???

Thanks for the link, LizzieCurry. My response to the video? Wow...I can't wait to see it. Daphne wasn't that bad. Just a different style. Marius and Cossette were also quite good.

I agree. Dpahne wasn't bad. Though her shaking bothered me.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

It keeps cutting off right before I Dreamed a Dream for me re: Les Miz Opening Night Video The beginning of it seems good though.

re: Les Miz Opening Night Video

Great video! Celia sounds amazing as do Ali and Adam. Love Cosette's new dress as well. Daphne didn't thrill me in the video but I will wait until I see it to make a judgement.

re: Les Miz Opening Night Video

(a) Celia sounds INCREDIBLE!
(b) Marius and Cosette sound great, an they definitely seem to be much less "transparent" as many reviews have made them out to be.
(c) Daphne actually impressed me! I am by no means a fan, but it was an extremely different take that really sounded pretty good! But yes, her shaking was a bit distracting...
(d) WHY DIDN'T THEY SHOW GARY?!!?

re: Les Miz Opening Night Video

Great video. Loved all the clips they showed . . . wish there were more. Thought Daphne sounded great but wish they would have shown a clip of her singing more (they showed the part she speaks more than sings, she really hits some great notes during other parts of the song) but you can see the emotion she puts into it from that clip so thats something. And I didn't notice any shaking when I saw her last week so maybe she has stopped that.

Now I can't wait to see the show again! :)

re: Les Miz Opening Night Video

Daphne sounds fine. my biggest vise though, and this was true for the tour as well, is that everyone is very obviously being directed not to use a British accent and therefore stress every single "r" and it annoys me greatly. on my own. pREEtending he's beside me. all alone I walk with him till mORning...

The glockenspiel has always been there but with the new stripped down orchestrations you hear it much more.
I blame George Bush for all of this.......

Movie guy:
I'm glad there are at least 5 people I found who noticed that too.
I was sure that there would be more than a brief interview with him in there,
there weren't alot of clips in general though,
Guess the RENT legends and new kids are taking over.

I wish there was more clips from the show and less yapping.

StarStruckGB:

The only reason i'm not extremely upset they didn't show any clips of Gary is because i'm seeing the performance on Saturday night... so as long as I see him there, I shall be content! But i just don't understand!!! Thenardier is THE villain, and also the comic relief! Its such a complex character, and an important one at that (I am Thenardier in my school's production of Les Mis, so i'm biased...!)! And it being played by someone as phenomenal and recognized as Gary Beach should merit at least a clip of him performing!!!

*deep breath*

OK my rant is over. But seriously. Gary is amazing.

re: Les Miz Opening Night Video

CATSNY- the thing that has always bothered me about les mis in general is the accents. British makes more sense than just regular American...but they are French people....I want FRENCH accents.

SallyBrown - French accents mean that they are French people speaking English.

And Lizzie - COSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSETTE. Bitch steal my tea.
