Les Mis already has the symphonic recording, the original cast recording, and recordings in German and French. Correct me if there are more. As nice as it would be to get an updated recording, I doubt they would record another version of the show. 14 more, actually--this list (click "Recordings" on the left) counts 18:

Les Miz is one of the most-recorded shows of all time...with almost one recording per year of its existence, it could even be the show that has been recorded more times within a certain period. Cameron Mackintosh certainly seems to have no qualms about putting the money down to record a new cast when the occasion calls for it--the change of a few of the original
Les Miz leads from London to Broadway prompted a brand new cast recording, whereas
Phantom, another Mackintosh venture, did not change its leads in the transfer and so was not re-recorded. Certainly you'd think a much-publicized Broadway revival with a fresh and exciting cast would get its own recording by that logic. Makes sense to me.
The only problem with any revival recording speculation--we have heard zip so far, which would seem to make it a lot less likely. But who knows, maybe they're waiting for Lea Salonga.
