First off, Dollypop is Not a "she".
Secondly, if I wanted you to know who my friend in the cast of LES MIS is, I would have told you initially. Carol Channing is always telling me that name dropping is unbecoming to a man of my elegance and refinement.
I'll let you know the status of the cast album as soon as my friend gets back to me.
Ok
I have a strong feeling they would, and it will come out before the show ends (just guessing).
The show is a success, the cast is so talented, they should never let this opportunity pass.
Marketing wise, I think people would buy it, I would.
Daphne or Lea? they should wait for Lea. Or better yet, release a highlights version with Daphne and a complete one for Lea (I am so mean, I am sorry).
GOD BLESS everyone.
This is gonna sound sarcastic after all of that, but I also have a friend in the show, and I don't think even the cast is certain if there will be any recording.
and it will come out before the show ends
When Mackintosh decides to actually end this "limited run", get back to me and I'll buy you dinner.

Not just to toot my own horn, but two weeks ago (as previously posted in one or two similar threads) I spoke to someone in the show (in the know) and they said (he or she said) that there are no current plans for a revival cast recording.
[The feeling is that there already exist enough cast recordings.]
p.s. And no current plans to readdress the plans after March 7th.
pps: I expect to be in contact next week. Any significant news will be reported.
ppps: In the meantime, should anyone out there hear anything real - kindly let us know.
pppps: Toot!

Didn't the cast of Grey Gardens also not know about them re-recording for months and OH, LOOK! Another recording! 2 Grey Gardens cds made in 1 year, come on compared to Les Mis, which only gets ONE a year? So unfair
It needs to happen! Who wouldn't want a copy of the Revival recording?!

Um, I wouldn't want one...there are, as someone pointed out 18...why make one more?
Considering Les Mis only has one American recording, I would like to have something new, preferable with the new changes in the show. And yes, I would be interested to hear this particular casts's renditions of the songs.
Personally, I'd rather have that than yet another recording of Follies. What's next, the highlights of the complete original revival benefit concert cast with bonus tracks of songs not considered for the show, but mentioned in passing during a rehearsal of a dinner theatre production where Sondheim sent a thank-note for a chocolate-ship cookie cake sent by the director thinking he'll come to a performance so it must be included in the liner notes and 120-page booklet of lyrics, forgotten lyrics, unwritten lyrics, costume sketches, family photos and thought bubbles?

The new GG recording was planned from the get-go. Whether it actually went into development was the kicker.
Cam Mac won't record Les Miz - nobody realizes how expensive it is to record a cast album of that magnitude (a large cast getting paid 2 weeks salary, a large orchestra, etc). Plus, there is a very limited audience for cast albums of ANY show, most are made just to have a record of the production (hence the new GG album, reflecting the Broadway changes).
Why would someone (besides all of you) buy the album when they have 1 or 2 of the many other recordings?
They would because there are changes to the show that are godd and people want to hear new voices. I don't know about other people, but I am tired of hearing Colm Wilkenson as Valjean! He's good, don't get me wrong, but change is a good thing and despretly needed here. Everyone I've talked to wants to be able to hear this cast of Les Miz even when the show is gone... THEY ARE THAT GOOD!!! So I really think this needs to happen.
Oh, kids. Please learn now that the world is cruel.
Cruel, cruel world.
Maybe we can have Sondheim's chocolate chip cookie cake as consolation.
Would he serve it in his basement?

YankeeFan's right. I've already got three of the damn things.
I know this is going to get me in trouble, but does anyone have a video recording of the revival? A friend of mine has been looking for one that was made in November(?) and she can't find any traders that have it. If you have a dvd copy please PM me. Thank you!
Sorry I know, I blame it on the Tourettes.

Copied and pasted for posterity and assininery.
For those of you who know people in the cast, have you heard anything new about a possible recording?
Wats that? Dem big words there ar a confusin me.
JJ, do you not understand what people are saying?? At the present time it does not look like the revival is going to get a recording. How differently can it be said? You're extremely annoying and tiresome.

Revolutionary:
How dare you? NEVER blame your foolishness on Tourette's! I have Tourette's Syndrome, and have been officially diagnosed for 9 years now. I find you extemely insulting and rude, because your post was in no way written for jest, if it had been, I wouldn't have cared as much. And if you really do have Tourette's, I pity you for blaming your rhetorical post on a syndrome that frustrates me and many others because of its embarassing effects.
