I am SHOCKED no one has talked about this tonight since, from what I hear, Kritzer was on for the matinee as well.
She isn't listed as an understudy, yet I walked in tonight and she was on for Paulette. According to cast members, Orfeh has a tracheal infection and while I definitely missed her presence tonight, it was amazing to see Kritzer in a larger role. She sang the crap out of "Bend and Snap" and put on an amazing performance for someone who was not very rehearsed for the role (From what i hear)....
Congrats to Leslie Kritzer...there was speculation that she would be on again tomorrow so I urge you to go and catch it. IT may be rare since she isn't listed as an understudy and was even wearing Orfeh's costumes.
That woman is such an amazing talent, although my thoughts are with Orfeh who must be suffering greatly since we all know her attendance is usually flawless.
Wow! I would have LOVED to see Leslie tear through Bend and Snap! I bet she was a riot too.

Damn, that is exciting. She must have been FAB-U-LOUS.
yum
She was amazing. Though I was a little disappointed I didn't get to see Orfeh, she was a killer Paulette.
You saw that too?
I loved her rendition of Bend & Snap!
Was it just me or was she struggling a bit with Ireland. Maybe I just got used to Orfeh singing it.
That sucks for Orfeh if any voters are visiting right now!
AH. I wish i could have seen that, you know she just tore her way through that role. My thoughts go out to Orfeh, though, for hopefully a speedy recovery.

My mother and her girlfriends saw the matinee. Orfeh was on as Paulette, as far as she knows. No signs, no slips.

Well that must have been really disappointing especially since Orfeh NEVER misses, ever. I was at the matinee and she was better and funnier than ever. The crowd went crazy after almost every number. It was especially deafening after Ireland reprise and Bend & Snap, actually it was one of the better audiences I've heard all around. Her voice sounded a little different during the graduation scene where she sings the re-cap but other than that, she was absolutely perfect and just gets better and better. That "upset" doesn't seem all that far fetched to me (flame away) and I don't think one night of voters is going to make a difference, unless of course the whole lot of them were there and that seems really unlikely. Either way, I'm praying she's ok and back in today. I think I'm going to go by later and ask the doorman. I'll post if I hear anything.
PS, Carryme, that's why YOU'RE here, to keep us informed of all that is pertaining to LB. Maybe no one cared or was all that "happy" about it. I wouldn't have liked to see ANY understudy with the exception of Annaleigh as Elle. But thanks for starting the thread, really.
So who went on for Leslie as Serena (was it Tracy Jai Edwards again?) And why didn't Gaelan or Amber go on as Paulette?
Carryme, don't be too "shocked" it was a last minute call out and Orfeh was most definitely on for the matinee, Rup was there and saw none other. And maybe for once no one from the board was there except of course, you. I'm only speculating and have no proof but I imagine that if they had Kritzer in Orfeh's costumes (which would creep me out), it was simply a matter of size which dictated who would go on. Amber Efe and Gaelen G. wouldn't have fit. I guess with Orfeh's spotless attendance record no one rushes any costumes for her understudy's. Again, this is all speculative.

Kritzer was the only one who could fit in the costumes.
And why aren't the costumes for the other actresses ready by now?
The costume issue confused me too, but I guess for some reason they weren't ready. Leslie was wearing her Serena wig (pulled up in a twist) and also I'm pretty sure that during the remix, she was wearing her Serena remix dress OVER a Paulette blouse - maybe whatever Orfeh wears there didn't quite work for her.
She looked a bit lost during act I but her act II was pretty amazing - her "Bend and Snap" was great and while she had some moments of "what the heck am I doing" during the Remix, she certainly handled it well and looked like she was having a lot of fun. The cast was being very supportive of her onstage.

She did a great job. Everyone was being really supportive of her onstage and the Ireland reprise was possibly the funniest thing I have seen in my life; major props to her for not completely dying onstage. She's clearly a professional, and it's her job, but pulling that out with such minimal notice and minimal rehearsal was amazing. Bend and Snap was AMAZING; dare I say I liked her transition (from "Hey wait a second" to "Let me tell you why") better than Orfeh's? It was a great night. It was very alive.
Tracy Jai Edwards did a great Serena as well. And best wishes for Orfeh to get better/heal soon. :o)
I saw Orfeh at the matinee and I had commented to friends that I thought she might be sick. A few notes just weren't right and when she yelled "Kyle" it sounded like something was wrong. Her acting, however, had no indication she did not feel well. I think she was giving 110% but her voice had other plans. Hopefully with some rest she'll be back soon as she is an incredible Paulette.
What a great opportunity for Leslie! That girl is AMAZING! I LOVE her in the show and would have loved to see her as Paulette!

Orfeh was definetly in for the matinee and she was fabulous. She was one of my favorite parts of the show. Hope she gets better soon so the Tony voters can see her.

She's back in today. I hope she's doing well! At least she'll have the two days off to rest and rejuvenate.
