Sondheim's "Saturday Night"
I just started rehearsals for it and it's phenomenal.
70 Girls 70 probably does better Off Broadway.
Maggie Flynn was not to bad as I recall. Nice score & hard to believe one of the scores creators is the author of Flamingo Court.

The Happy Time (maybe completely rework the show as well? I've heard plenty of negatives about the book).
There's a reason a few of these shows are "lesser known" (i.e MARTIN GUERRE, SUBWAYS ARE FOR SLEEPING, etc).
PURLIE was recently done by Encores! starring the brilliant Anika Noni Rose, Lillias White and Blair Underwood in the title role. Unfortunately, it got a lukewarm reception from the Times and I'm not sure we'll be seeing it on the NY stage anytime soon. I do love Rose's "I Got Love" on the audio and I've heard White gave a brilliant performance, stopping the show with "He Can Do It."

inner city, maggie flynn , let it ride, good vrabtions.
Sure, they wouldn't stay open long and will doubtfully come back to the stage but it would be nice for the fans of the obscure. :)

Charles Strouse's MAYOR.
Not a fantastic musical, but it has two fantastically funny songs- "March of the Yuppies" and "Be a New Yorker."
I really only want to see a revival because I want to see Denis O' Hare in the title role. Lenny Wolpe originated, but I know that O' Hare could bring a totally new and exciting take to the role. If only the actual musical was better...
In the case of Subways are for Sleeping, the reason for its obscurity cannot be the song score by Jule Styne, Betty Comden & Adolph Green, which is with few exceptions superior by a wide margin to anything composed for the musical stage the last 25 years or so. "Comes Once in A Lifetime" from Subways is one of musical theater's greatest songs. More likely the book, which was about the homeless in New York, was too controversial for a Broadway musical at the time and would have to be revised for any revival. But it would be worth it just to allow today's audiences to hear that fantastic score.
'Side Show' isn't really too much of a lesser known show is it? I mean outside of the Broadway Community, sure, but inside of the community it's pretty common.
I COMPLETELY agree with 'Subways are for Sleeping'. Wonderful score, wonderful concept.

Rags. With a score that strong they should be able to find a way to make the book work around it.
Agnes of God!
Agreed about Drood! Alice Ripley for the title role, please.
