Drew was a FANTASTIC Lestat. His performance Friday night, despite having five minute's notice, and having played Armand for the first act, was spectacular. Vocally, he's all over the place (in a good way) and his Lestat was quite desperate, a lot less likable than Hugh's version, but I guess, a more tragic figure? I really liked what he did with the character, and his work with Carolee in particular, was great.
Sean was a good Armand... sung very nicely. I honestly prefer Drew's Armand, but I liked Sean quite a bit.

Posted: 6/1/06 at 1:57pmI honestly must say I liked Drew better than Hugh. I saw in Saturday night for the first time, but went back Sunday hoping to catch Hugh. While I enjoyed Hugh, I like the Drew's higher vocal range much better. I am just sorry I waited until closing weekend to see the show. I really enjoyed the music and am anxious to get the cast recording. I thought Sean did a great job as Armand. It was nice to see both Hugh and Drew though!

When I saw the cast list for saturday I was dissapointed at first. Now, I couldn't be happier that Drew was on.
I thought Sean was very good. You could definatley see a lot of Armand in Drew's Lestat though.

Posted: 6/1/06 at 2:30pmi definitely have to admit Drew did a great job of camping the show up with his screwing up the lines!

Posted: 6/1/06 at 2:35pmFolkyboy, what night were you there? If he was screwing up on Friday night, it's probably because he had like five minutes notice that he was going on, and hey, live theatre... Saturday, there were three understudies on... lots of stepping on lines.

Because Jim was only out for two shows, Hugh was out for two and a half, and Drew and Chris were the only ones ready to go on? I dunno.
Interesting note, even though Chris played Louis both shows on Saturday, he still did his ensemble track for the first act.

I was there at the saturday matinee. I was very dissapointed that Hugh wasn't there but happy to see Drew as Lestat. If it were anyone else playing Lestat, I wouldn't have enjoyed it 1/2 as much.
Hugh is my ultimate favorite, no doubt. Drew did pretty good, altough I think his voice is too scarcatic for the part. Sean was OK. His voice didn't have the same scarcasm as Drew's, and I really didn't like Sean's rendition of After All This Time.
Just out of curiously, in it's run, has anyone gotten to see Amy Sparrow as Claudia?

I've heard some Drew!Lestat audio and it was fantastic. Sadly, I didn't get to see the whole show. There's just something about Drew's voice that gives me chills. Hugh never did that (although he was still a great Lestat.)
The Sean audio as Armand was pretty cool, too. I haven't heard any of Chris as Louis besides the very end of "To Kill Your Kind" which doesn't really count!
