I usually buy the souvenir program, and some shows have these neat little keychains that I get.
I never buy Cast Recordings from the theater, but I do spend a lot on every merchandise stand of every show I go to ! Definetely a Program and a magnet, most of the times T-shirts, sometimes baseball caps and window cards and if there is something unique and original, it will certainly find its way onto my pile ! I used to always buy coffee mugs, but since I drink a LOT of coffee, I find their size really small now, so I don't get them any more !
The more I like the show, the more things I get ! I think on Hairspray, I bought almost EVERYTHING !!!
The only cast recording I got at the theatre was the 110 pre-order. And I was happy I did. I got it only a day or so after it came out. And WAY ahead of people who ordered it elsewhere. That was worth the extra $$ for me!
I always get a program the first time I see a show, sometimes a keychain here or there but, seeing as I never wear the t-shirts or sweatshirts, I try not to buy those.
i always buy a program and usually a shirt as well at shows, and then i'll go home on amazon.com and find a cast recording used for cheap and buy that
I usually just buy the program- sometimes a magnet or a poster. I usually already have the cast recording and have listened to it hundreds of times,, so I never buy one.

I've got a question about the GG tote (still available on broadwaynewyork.com), is it big? will it hold at least a textbook and a planner? I'm thinking of buying one for School..."
Good luck.
They may be sold out of them there. They were at the show and on the site and the company is no longer selling via the GG site. All the left over merch was sold to a theatre store in Manhattan.

I usually always get a windowcard and program and sometimes a shirt, but when I see Young Frankenstein this month I'm probably going to end up getting everything!
I'm big on getting the magnet, window card, and program. (I usually SD after the show). And depending on if I really like a show I'll buy a t-shirt. For Wicked I have the grey hoodie and the black zipper hoodie, and for GG I have a few t-shirts (they were on sale). I don't really get things outside the theater because i'd rather give my money to the show.
I used to always buy a program for every show, but lately I have curtailed that. When I saw Grey Gardens (which I loved) I didn't even buy the program because I thought, I'll just put this in a drawer, and never look at it again. All the ones I have now I never really look at unless I have someone ask to see my collection.
Sidebar- Couldn't they have found a shirtless picture of Matt for the Grey Gardens program.
The only program I've bought since I've been living here is Beauty and the Beast which I bought at the closing performance to really remember things. I also bought one for my friend who bought me the ticket to it for my birthday and wanted to see it but couldn't get up here.
I suppose if they had them for some of the plays I love, I'd get them for those. But they don't, so... More $$ for me to spend on seeing shows!

I only buy things if I really like something, especially if they have something cool and original. The only show I'm really bad with (as in STILL trying to find things from) is Sweeney Todd. I'm still trying to track down Lauren's shirt, the apron, and the program ( P.s. If anyone has any of these or other merchandise, get in touch with me. Please!)
But I think most merchandise is incredibly overpriced.
RockabyeHamlet, tha apron can be found
here...

My favorite thing to get is the windowcard, which I have quite a few of. I really like to get those signed as well. They look great. Otherwise I will sometimes get a t-shirt, since I like to wear those. That's about it, unless something there strikes me. Then again, I have more than I could imagine from Grey Gardens. Though I do wish I had gotten the tote and the mug.

I buy a shirt for every show I see. If I see something else that strikes my fancy, I might get it, such as a signed playbill from Rent or a half-price program from Company.
I always end up spending waaaaay too much money on stuff! At Spelling Bee, I bought pretty much everything they had for sale! I got a tshirt, mug, program, mousepad, keychain, and I was planning on buying one of the backpacks with the bee on it, but they had just sold out.
Going to Wicked in LA again in 2 weeks. Last time I bought a program, monkey, keychain, and tshirt. I'll probably end up buying one of the red tanktops that says "Dancing Through Life" on it, and maybe a magnet or sweatshirt.
Avenue Q in September will be fun. I'm already putting cash aside so I can buy everything!
10 months before I had even seen Hairspray, I already had the program, 'The complete book and lyrics', 'The Roots', and the cd.
I know, I'm pathetic.
Oh I LOOOOOOVE goodies. I spent the same amount of $ as the ticket for Mary Poppins one time.
Usually if I really like the show, I buy T-shirt and window card to be autographed. I buy a magnet and mug too but for some reason, I don't buy the program (except Mary Poppins). Big River is my fav show, and I bought two mugs, one for every day use and one for just in case the every day use mug breaks.
