What kind of merchandise can you purchase at each show?
Let's discuss.
I made the mistake of buying the showcard for Rent before the show, and I wound up hating it (sorry, but I'm an Opera fan, and prefer the opera). If I like the show, I will buy a t-shirt (I did that for Lestat, because I thought it might be a necessity, even though the show was godawful). I often buy a refrigerator magnet, but stopped buying showcards.
Pardon my bluntness, too, but they had leather bands for Lestat that looked, well, like****rings. When I asked the man selling the stuff, he laughed, and told me that I was the first one who asked that, but that I was right. That's what they looked like.
If you want refrigerator magnets, Theatre Circle has lots of them on sale. Enjoy NYC.
I usually buy a windowcard and a t-shirt from shows that I like after the show, and sometimes cute unique stuff if they have it (Like the stuffed Bruiser at Legally Blonde!)
or stuffed cats at GG.
meow!
My grandma bought me the teapot from Grey Gardens. How random...but I kinda like it.

I definitely like something I can wear...so I get a cap and t-shirt if it's a show I like. Mugs if they have them because I drink a lot of coffee. Keyrings.
I tend to like things I can use like that, though I'll often get a window card and always a program.
I always buy the souvenire brochure, and almost always buy the cast recording (if I haven't already got it).
I sometimes also get a t-shirt or sweater, but only if I like the design.

I usually get a program too. But I have trouble buying T-shirts and hats because I find I don't wear them often enough to justify spending that money.
What kinds of special things to they have at Grey Gardens, Curtains, Les Miserables, Spring Awakening, and Company?

I always get the cast recording and the souvenire brochure. That's about it. I wouldn't mind having a few window cards of the shows I really enjoyed though. What do you guys do with those anyways? Just pin them to your wall? Frame them? I never buy any cause I wouldn't know what to do with it.
Why the hell would you buy a cast recording at the theatre when you can walk to some other big box store and get it cheaper there? The appeal of merchandise at a theatre is the (relative) uniqueness of the items...but I guess there has to be a sucka in every audience.
I normally get a windowcard and a program (if available), and sometimes a T-shirt.

I don't think I've ever bought the CD's at the theatre. They are SO much cheaper at Virgin and other stores. But most souvenire brochure's are over $20 at other stores. So I like to pick those up at the theatre.

Yeah, I shelled out 25.00 for a WEDDING SINGER program at the Marquis Theater Store.

I absolutely love merch! I buy everything! I have Ugga Wug sticks from PETER PAN and and "I Can't Say No" t-shirt from OKLAHOMA! and all those booklets and coffee mugs. It's great!
I hope everybody here buys merch.
Does anyone know good affordable websites for theater merchandise? I've looked on ebay and all that, but I'm looking for others. Thanks!

If I have the money, I buy all of the shirts and hoodies. I have been known to spend at least $100 on merchandise at a show. Of course, at a musical like Wicked where everything is a lot more over-priced than most other shows, that is not saying much. I bought a single tee shirt, hoodie, program and keychain, and it was nearly $150.

Me too.
Repeat visits = more chances to buy stuff!

True. Every time I saw Sweeney, I bought something.

Well, I am going to the LA production of Wicked in August (a friend and I are gonna spend the week in LA mainly for a performance of Reba McEntire in South Pacific at the Hollywood Bowl, and we thought we'd take in Wicked and possibly Jersey Boys), and no doubt I'll buy the grey hoodie and all of the shirts that I'm missing.
Normally I just get a program (if they have them) or a copy of the play if really liked it. Recently I've been buying t-shirts, but only if they're unique and not just with a logo on the front (like Lauren Molina's Sweeney Todd shirt). I will also buy a window card if I'm seeing a show with the original cast (then I will get it autographed as well).
I always get the program, but I only get other things like shirts if I really like the show.
Btw, what are window cards?
window cards are posters. i always get a program if they have them and if they don't a tshirt or a magnet or window card. but if they have unique things I grab it, especially the trekkie monster puppet at Q WHICH I LOVE!

I love the super soft t shirts they have started selling.
OMG ME TOO!
The SPELLING BEE t-shirt is so freaking soft!
But I collect the coffee mugs from every show I've seen...so, that and if I dont have the CD, I'll buy it.
And usually during intermission, if I'm LOVING the show, I'll get the big program and/or a window card for the cast to sign if I plan to stop by the stage door.
So, in other words, I buy way too much crap.
I actually considered getting a stuffed Bruiser dog at Legally Blonde...I know...
