I've actually been mulling about with an idea to do "Friday the 13th" as a musical. The audience would vote for the the killer a la "Drood" before the show even started.

I second something with singing penguins. With all the penguin movies lately, I'm surprised we haven't heard of it yet... Happy Feet... as a musical?

My other suggestion: Lady in the Water. Or I'd just love to see M. Night Shyamalan do a musical, period.

i second pirates of the caribbean, it's only a matter of time
...pirates are going to be Broadway's next vampires, *shudder*

i was also thinking how well down with love could translate to stage earlier, glad to see i'm not alone :)

Finding Neverland would be great. I know it has been discussed here on the board before.

When I saw Down With Love, the entire time I kept waiting for a song to start. It really plays like an "insert song here" movie.

Plus, it would be a good romantic comedy vehicle for a couple of new stars.

Same here, and I think the design would be really interesting on stage. The costumes and sets were fantastic (IMO) in the film.
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Ewan reprise his role, but I don't think that would ever happen.

Adventures In Babysitting we need John Gallagher Jr as Daryl Coopersmith

Beaches with music by Marc Shaiman ... Puss victoria needs to be played by Kelsey Fowler in Grey Gardens , Carolee Carmello needs to play Barb Hersheys part and Barbara Walsh could do Bettes part and then they can sing "the eagle rock"

Also "The witches" I could See Beth Leavel playing The Grand Witch

"Rosemarys Baby" lets have Abe Vigoda as Roman, Elaine Stritch as Minnie and Erin Davie as Rosemary

I think Bullets Over Broadway would be excellent.
Here's the cast I'd do:

In the leading male role (David): Hugh Panaro perhaps, or maybe Norbert Leo Butz
Helen Sinclair: I see Christine Ebersole or Beth Leavel
(It's a truly juicy role for either lady-very funny!)
Ellen (David's girlfriend): Julia Murney or Sutton Foster
Cheech: Don't know..someone big and brawny and baritone
Olive: This is tough-she's got to be so annoying it hurts. Jennifer Tilly had this down. Not too sure. Megan Mullally's too old.
There's my primary casting. I think Michael John LaChiusa or Andrew Lippa might do a wonderful job with this. It'd be a great, fun show to do.

I would actually really want to see this.

One time, Patti LuPone punched me in the face...

It was awesome.

I honestly think Bullets would really work as a musical. It's set in a time period where music was very influential and the three people I mentioned I thought would be good. Kristin Chenoweth might actually be a good Olive.
I think I'd go with Sutton as Ellen and Christine Ebersole as Helen Sinclair-she'd be a riot. (some of the lines are just priceless! This is the one that got Diane Wiest the Academy Award).

Some of these are actually good ideas.

I'd like to see:

Election by Stephen Sondheim

Beaches by Marc Shaiman

The Muppet Musical (Get the real performers and do an Avenue Q style show. That would be fantastic!)

Finding Neverland would be great!

Mrs. Doubtfire starring Jeff Daniels..??

It would hardly be brilliant, but Clueless could make a really cute musical...

I still want to see Groundhog Day by Stephen Sondheim.

I forget. Why did he abandon that project again?

They're workshopping Catch Me If You Can....some of the audition music was a bit sketch, so I'm skeptical. But hey, with the right cast, it could TOTALLY work, right?

"Now she wants to know WHY, if I'm so fabulous, I would WANT to take care of her child.....I answer with as much filigree and insouciance as I can muster, trying to slightly cock my head like Snow White listening to the animals. She, in turn, is aiming for more of a Diane-Sawyer-pose, looking for answers which will confirm that I am not there to steal her husband, jewelry, friends, or child. In that order." Marvin Hamlisch was working on Bullets Over Broadway. What happened with that? I think it would be a great musical!

Ditto, and Marvin is a good choice to do it.

The cast I gave would put butts in the seats and give the audience a great time. David Shayne (the main character) would be well played by Hugh Panaro. I really believe Christine Ebersole would be a great Helen Sinclair. Her comic timing is right on for it. And Sutton Foster has the 1920s girl thing down to play Ellen. Kristin Chenoweth would be pretty good as Olive, I think. And as Eve, the dog loving ingenue, Mara Davies or Kate Shindle?
Also-Kevin Chamberlain as the actor Hubert (I think that's his name).
I still love some of the lines (many of which I cannot put here!) One of my faves:
David: She (Eve) has a certain perkiness about her that the role requires.
Helen: She's perky, all right. Makes you want to sneak up behind her with a pillowcase and suffocate her!

I love that line.

But it's a disaster whenever Hugh Panaro is in an OBC, don't forget.

No it isn't. He was in Les Mis, I believe. (That's where he met his now-ex-wife, Tracy Shayne.)
He is right for the role, too. I think he'd be terrific.

That was made into a musical flop-go to Joe Allen and see the poster on the wall of shame.
