If I want to visit the Lincoln Center Archives to make copies of some scores and stuff, where is it and how do I do it? Do i need like a "library" card? Or what? When does it close, etc? Thanks! Or is the NY Public Library a better choice?
It's located right next to the Vivian Beaumont theatre. The hours vary, MOndays and Thursdays it's open from 12-8, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays it's open from 11-6 and Saturdays it's open from 10-6. You need money to make the copies, though not necessarily a library card. I think you need to get a "Copy Card" which can be obtained at the library.
In the future, all of this information (and more) can be found on the website. Just google Lincoln Center Library.
Thanks, I googled Lincoln Center Archives and was even more confused. My bad!

follow up question. i know that you have to have a legitimate reason for watching the videos - it can't just be for pleasure. so what is a legitimate excuse one can give to watch something? what are things to say and what are things to avoid?
You can just say you're there doing research for a paper you're working on, a book you're writing, anything like that.
It's ridiculous you need a "legitimate" reason in the first place but just say something like that and you'll be fine.

It's the NY Public Library at Lincoln Center.
As far as reasoning for watching the tapes, it can be anything from doing a school report to directing a production.
You also need a special Access Card.
The reasoning for the strictness has to do with union regulations, Jordan Catalano.
As far as copying scores, there's a special section for sheet music of all kinds. They're not strict at all, I just don't think you can borrow their materials.
I created a thread a while ago about this very subject. A lot of people replied and there might be some helpful information there.

Thanks. I'm mostly interested in the sheet music, although the videos sound good as well.
Yankee, I know all about the union regulations. I just think they're ridiculous.
