There was a thread about this major Lincoln Center renovation to the Amsterdam Ave side when it was announced last year, but it seems to be lost or deleted now.
The project will focus first on turning Damrosch Park into a state-of-the-art outdoor "performance park" before addressing the other high walls surrounding much of the Amsterdam Ave side. They've announced architects and are developing designs. "They will also be upgrading aging infrastructure including heating and cooling systems; power and data distribution; public and back-of-house restroom facilities; and access for the artists, audiences, and community members."

On a personal note, I think a renovation for Damrosch is long overdue. Nobody in the general public uses it (even when the main LC plaza is overflowing with people). It's such an eyesore and serves no real function outside of hosting the circus (which probably goes away once this new park is in place) and summer amphitheater events.
I hope that they keep the cool band shell.

No idea, but I assume that's going away but will be replaced by another type of outdoor performance stage, since they're reimagining the whole space and the bandshell currently has its back to Amsterdam Ave (aka, the problem they are trying to solve).
They could rotate it 90 degrees (so the stage's back is against the building) and have nearly the same amount of audience area. Which might help with the promised bathrooms + backstage space addition too.
