The only quibbles I have read are comparisons with the "subtlety" of Charles Busch and others.

Almost no critic would be willing to pan this production, let's just leave it at that.  

It is so quaint and wonderful that people still collect CDs.

Everyone knows that a stage production is sacrosanct, and that so-called screenplays should be held strictly accountable for any and all lapses.  I agree with the fellow theater lover that a class action is called for!

The only thing more tiresome than your masturbatory exercise, is that some will actually attempt to fathom it. 

He is an  absolutely despicable piece of garbage, thank you Laura.  

At least the costumes are not quite as atrocious, but I don't see the connection either with haute couture.

I guess they'e de-dragifying the role to make it more acceptable for touring audiences?

It must be odd watching this now, knowing that it's happening in real time.

It's nice that they kept the show running for a while, if nothing else than for the hardworking cast members right before the holidays.  

I think she was in the revival of No No Nanette back in the seventies, so she goes way back.  

I daresay that she doesn't give a rat's ass about scoring any points with you.  I think it's wonderful that people are singing and being encouraged to do so!  Of course I would never be within 100 miles of such a scenario, but it's good for the common folk.  Sing out, America!

Conceit is the word I was searching for.  And this one was created to feature a beloved star.  Social implications or historical accuracy really don't matter here.

It's bizarre that they would stage a production of a classic show that has been done umpteen times just so one particular actress could have her day.
