Posted: 9/26/12 at 1:38pmCan't wait to see her but her special guests are both Robert Cuccioli and Cristianne Noll, both of which are in shows... Curtain is at 8- do you think they are both taking the night off from Spiderman and Chaplin?

Just saw Cuccioli in Chess (Actor's Fund Benefit) and he was great albeit under-rehearsed. Can't wait to see what Linda has in store!

Posted: 10/12/12 at 8:44amLinda never disappoints live. Her new Songbirds tour is so beautifully sung. Not to be missed. She's so gracious with her fans, I'm sure she'd love to meet you after the show. Enjoy!

Posted: 10/12/12 at 9:43amSaw her two months ago in Provincetown. What a huge disappointment! Hope you all enjoy her however I'd never pay to see her in concert again. Didn't especially care for her attitude during Carnival and I got the impression she doesn't particularly care for her gay fans. I never expected to leave the show feeling insulted, but I wasn't the only one.

Posted: 10/13/12 at 12:32pmI know that Bob is off from Spiderman. I assume Christianne is off from Chaplin. Although they will only sing a few songs they are the reason that I am going.

I was so disappointed by this show! I've been a fan of Linda Eder's for years but had never seen her on stage. I've also gone to two other Town Hall concerts this year (Liz Callaway and Lea Salonga). I thought I knew what I was getting myself in for.
In brief: she was largely incomprehensible. It seemed like a combination of terrible acoustics (it often felt as if the only thing I could hear was the drummer) and the fact that Linda mumbled almost every single word of every song and every speech! Some songs I knew well and still couldn't understand. The people behind me left mid-way through the first half for that reason, and the people next to me left at intermission.
This was my first time sitting in the mezzanine at Town Hall, so maybe the acoustics there are much worse than in the orchestra. That still doesn't excuse the fact that people are paying for these tickets and shouldn't leave feeling as if they've listened to Linda Eder scat for two hours.
On another note, I adore Christiane Noll but she wore a skin-toned dress that made her look naked under the lights. Who thought that was a good idea??
For those who are interested, a rough (out of order, and missing more than a couple of songs, in part because I couldn't understand what she said when she named them) playlist:
-Someone Like You
-The Mad Hatter song from Wonderland
-Crazy/Walking After Midnight medley (my favorite part of the night)
-Dangerous Game (with Robert Cuccioli)
-Take Me As I Am (Robert Cuccioli and Christiane Noll)
-Falling Slowly (as a duet with her guitarist--Linda sang the boy part and the mics were so unbalanced that I couldn't hear any of the harmonies. Kind of defeats the purpose of that song!)
-In His Eyes (with Christiane Noll)
-This is the Moment (Robert Cuccioli)
-Alive (Robert Cuccioli)
-Bring on the Men (with Christiane Noll)
-A New Life
-A fun jazzy song from Frank Wildhorn's newest show about F. Scott Fitzgerald, featuring all three singers
-The encore was Over the Rainbow accompanied only by the piano, which was a highlight of the night

yankeefan7 - He was terrific. His "Alive" and "This Is the Moment" were great, and the stage seemed to sizzle when he and Linda sang "Dangerous Game." He also gave an amusing description of how the choreography (if that's the right word) for the "Confrontation" in Jekyll came about--he said that the director tied ropes around him and let the cast yank him in all directions until he insisted he could do it himself...
Christiane Noll was great as well, wardrobe issues aside. And to be clear, Linda's voice was everything I expected...it was her pronunciation (or lack thereof) that really threw me.

Posted: 10/14/12 at 1:08pmPapaGe, Eder and Noll didn't sing "In His Eyes"? Doesn't that kind of defeat the point?
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

no they did sing In His Eyes. This was literally the worst concert I've ever seen. And not being a fan of J and H I was really out of my element. I must say that she sang the **** out of everything you just couldn't hear her thanks to the crack team at the dreadful Town Hall.
Town Hall really knows how to make your theater going experience one you'll never forget. For instance keeping the temperature as close to 98.6 as possible it makes you feel at one with the performers. Or the 6 inch by 6 inch seats from 1894 remind one of a simpler time before comfort was key. House Staff?? They have em'! Recruited from a halfway house in hells kitchen. I have also found at other theaters I could hear the performers to well. Not at Town Hall. They worked it out perfectly so you'll never once have to hear the person you paid money to see.

Posted: 10/14/12 at 1:24pmThe trio song from Zelda was "Money to Burn." Zelda is playing in North Carolina right now starring Lauren Kennedy & Jarrod Emmick actually.

Posted: 10/14/12 at 1:43pmPapaGee - When I saw J&H many years ago, "Confrontation" just blew me away. How Robert Cucciloi lost the Tony award is beyond me. I have mentioned in other posts that my wife knew Robert Cuccioli from HS days and she will be glad to hear he was wonderful. We actually got to go backstage after J&H and met Linder Eder and Christianne Noll briefly.

Frank's writing about the Fitzgeralds now? Sometimes I wonder if he just throws open the encyclopedia and points, to pick his next project.
Not that they wouldn't make a pretty intriguing subject . . .

^The project had its word premiere in '05 (with Kennedy & Emmick, actually).
This score is very good - much different from typical Wildhorn fare. Very jazzy, it sounds good. Kennedy released one of the numbers ("Easy") on her latest album, and Eder/trio sang "Money to Burn" at the Frank & Friends concert recorded in Vienna.

I have mixed feeling about the show. Sadly the sound was awful. Strangely, when Linda would hit a hit a long note she would pull the microphone away and you lost some of her amazing power.
Christiane and Robert were amazing as was Linda. I can only imagine with better sound how magnificent it would have been. Linda looked lovely in albeit somewhat odd dress choices.
In His Eyes was a highlight as was a stunning rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
Sadly Linda's banter with the audience is awkward and she admits she was nervous but really, after all these years, you think she'd have some coaching on how to speak to an audience.
