Posted: 10/2/08 at 1:16amAny clue what the poles are made of that the bird kites are flown on during One By One?
re: Lion King Birds#2
Posted: 10/2/08 at 6:55amIt's probably not that different from the poles used for liturgical kites (kites used in worship services). Those are usually fiberglass telescoping poles.

Posted: 10/2/08 at 3:28pmJordangirl, those sound great. i just struggled this past summer with some "poles as kite ropes" for a show. Is there a source for these telescoping ones you describe? much appreciated....i have never heard of liturgical kites, but i don't attend many services.

We got ours from the site linked to (Friends of the Groom is a Christian drama group). The poles are at the very bottom. They're 10' long when extended and collapse to 60". They're $21.95 plus shipping.

thanx JORDANGIRL you rock. How inexpensive an item, for a great purpose.
And TREKKIE that's hilarious. i have a friend who designed a production of TRAILER PARK with a fold-out stripper pole, so that brings it all full-circle.
