HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Sorry - that made me laugh for a long while.

No - the show is NOT closing. It's been open for HOW MANY YEARS and its still selling out regularly!

For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

BATB will close before LION KING.

In fact - I bet TARZAN will close before LION KING.

In fact - I think LITTLE MERMAID will arrive before LION KING closes.

Dear OneSongGlory,

You can always go to Playbill On-Line's "The Week's Grosses" and determine how well a show is doing at the box office. That's a good sign of whether it will close or not. THE LION KING is still playing to 100% capacity. Why would a show with that sort of financial health close?

Capn -

Little Mermaid may open and close before TLK closes...

I don't think it will close for a long time, but I do think they might move it elsewhere to bring in Mary Poppins.

No, I think THE LION KING (plot-wise) is weaker than THE LITTLE MERMAID. MERMAID will be the new LION KING and Disney will close LK. They won't need it anymore on Broadway, and they'll have a new show to replace it.

I bet LK will close 2009.

I figured it won't be closing but she though it was because it's been on broadway for 7 years. I Know how much it makes and how good it runs. I just wanted to make sure before sending false information.

Well, I thought TLK has a stronger plot, but Lil Merm may appeal to more...

But also, there have been three TLK movies...covering all generations...

But yeah, TLK will close first - just jk about that...

LK is not closing. I did not hear about this at Stabucks.

However, Rent will apparently close soon. That's what I heard.

And someone mentioned Wicked.

Oh well. Call Brooke! Another show to save!

RENT posted a closing notice way back when. This was months, if not a year ago.

Really? I never heard about Rent posting a closing sign, so does that mean it'll close or it's decided to remain open?

It's open, for now.

I am THINKING they will try to keep it open until the movie is out, but if it doesn't get enough sales, they might just close it and let the movie be its own.

I'm sorry if I've caused any trouble by asking this question, I knew Lion King won't be closing soon, it's making over a million dollars a show! I feel a little sad about Rent but the movie's coming out so that'll be an adventue.

I hope as soon as that film ends, and the Finale turns to black, we see the words: "In Loving Memory of Jonathan Larson."

I would not be surprised AT ALL if The Lion King ended up being the longest running broadway show, outbeating POTO and Cats. It's been running since 1997 (i think) and it is still hard to get a ticket.
