Lion King on Tony's

Just curious
Was that the original or current cast?
I really enjoyed it

Disney really got their promotion on the Tony's

I was actually wondering why Lion King performed the opening number. When I saw them on stage I thought it was going to at least be a medley of all the Disney shows/casts. It was strange to me that, that was it.

Jules, agreed.

It seemed a little odd that LK would open the show,as it's not really anything new or something people haven't seen before.

Well it was to honor the 10th Anniversary of the groundbreaking show. It really has brought family back into the theater.

They didn't even announce anything about the anniversary though, so it wasn't like it was a big celebration. I just expected something more from the opening number I guess. Lion King is a great show, and could have performed at some point during the night, kinda a let down for an opening though.

jacobsnchz14, you can just go to YouTube and look for the 1997 TONY Opening Number. It was the same thing.

Tonys was great this year, but lion king just felt strange opening the show.... I thought that they could have come up with a much better start,

I thought the performance was great, but is was really odd that it opened the show. It's sort of a played out thing to perform, they did the same thing ten years ago!
