Any word if there are Broadway plans for this show? Or maybe amateur leasing being available soon? I've been checking their website but although it says news is coming there has been nothing posted since June.
Thanks for any info!

I personally can't wait for the Desperate Housewives musical!

I think Little House was probably considered a more viable property considering the book series had been popular for over 40 years before the television series originally aired. The original semi-autobiographical 8-book series is considered an American classic. The fact that it went on to be a popular series is something of a no-brainer and I'm surprised it wasn't musicalized sooner than this. I would imagine we will have a mini-series or movie franchise rebooting these rather beloved tales and characters.

ETA: - I didn't realize there was a mini-series in 2005. I'll have to check it out.

It's not so good. They billed it as "Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House on the Prairie" to make it sound like it was closer to the books than the Landon/Gilbert TV series.

It wasn't.

That's a shame, especially since I am a huge fan of Rachel Portman's film scores. Her score to Cider House Rules is possibly my favorite film scores ever.

Oh, sorry! I was referring to the 2005 Disney TV series.

The musical (which I saw at Papermill) was actually quite charming, and pretty faithful to the books (utilizing mostly Shores of Silver Lake, Little Town, The Long Winter and These Happy Golden Years as opposed to Little House). The music was lovely (not really memorable, but lovely).

I love Rachel Portman's The Little Prince which I saw at New York City Opera.

I saw it in April in Sacramento, so I'm not sure, but I thought it was fun! I didn't think it was at all what most would say is a "good" show, but I thought it was cute and fun! Lol. My mother said she was bored to tears but I was grinning most of the time. I thought it was very cute!

Into the Woods, Beauty and the Beast, RENT, Mamma Mia!, Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde, Evita (with Julia Murney), Hairspray (with Paul Vogt), Peter and the Starcatchers (with Christian Borle), Lion King, Altar Boyz, Legally Blonde (with Lauren Zackrin).

I also saw it in Sacramento. I thought it was a charming show. I can see it doing really well on the amateur circuit.

Saw it in Sacramento and was bored to tears. The lead girl was annoying and played the part like she was the character "Dot" from Mad TV. Boring, crappy songs...total yawner.

My thoughts on the Denver run. It goes two pages with some comments on page one:

I've never heard of this. If done well it's not a bad idea--though I'm always suspicious of shows featuring childen.

They weren't really small children in the show. Also, the show wasn't really on a "national tour". It would play a city, take some time off and tweak the show and go to another city.

It states on their website to stay tuned but nothing new has been posted for several months and there has been no activity on their FB or Twitter accounts since the end of June. I emailed their marketing department but no response as of yet. I haven't been able to find any info online or elswhere concerning their future plans for the show. I have a feeling it will be continuing with it's current format but, if not, I would love to find out about the possibilities for amateur leasing.

Well it has just been a few months so possibly something is in the works that they can't make public yet.

This came to my city last season, but I couldn't make it. I usually am not too fond of shows that have not been on Broadway touring to cities as part of the Broadway Series. My home town has done this a lot with shows like Happy Days, Rat Pack, and Little House on the Prairie. I have nothing against these shows, but they should be performed by community theatres, not put on the road as part of a Broadway series. That's just me though.
I would venture to say that Little House on the Prairie will probably be made available for local theatres to perform soon.
