Is anyone else going for Sherie Renee Scott's last performance in The Little Mermaid on Sunday??
Did she leave already because Heidi is up on the cast list on the website?

I thought Sherie left a month ago and her understudy was filling in until Heidi starts next week.
Never mind, I guess I'm wrong. She should be in this weekend.

Nope. I've avoiding seeing Mermaid for many reasons, Sherie being one of the main reasons, so I'll be seeing it Tuesday.

Same here.
Me too.
But I (regrettably) saw it already with Sherie. Not fun. I'm planning to see Heidi next weekend and enjoy it much more.
ok.. i guess i will just have to wait until sunday to find out..
doubleentendre and colorthehours, what do you not like about Sherie?
She's been in the show for a long time, and she's gotten a bit... bored with the role. It kind of shows. So it makes sense that people are excited to see something new.

Based on what I saw I don't think she was ever not bored with the role. Or maybe it was just being saddled with that costume?

I just want to hear Heidi's beautiful voice. I hope she gets a chance to let it shine. I haven't heard the new music for the show, so I'm not sure what Ursula's range is like, but it seems like they want some pretty legit belters in the role.
Also, quick side note, where are the student rush seats located? Just scattered about or partial view? I hate partial view, so I'd rather get a TKTS seat if that's the case.

I'm not a huge Sherie fan either.
I saw Cicily Daniels as Ursula my first time seeing it and she was phenomenal! I was drawn to her when ever she was on stage.
I saw Sherie... she looked sleep deprived and like she wanted to be some where else, this was in July.
Personally I think that the Broadway show's version of Ursula is boring compared to the film. At least, it seems the way Sherie plays it -- this kind of shrill old movie star thing -- could get tired REALLY fast. Playing it deeper, bigger, and badder is key to that part I feel.
Well, for one, she plays Ursula like a faded drag queen lamenting about her youth and taking her frustration out on everyone as opposed to an actual villain. As a result, she never develops Ursula as even remotely imposing. As it's written, the stage version of Ursula isn't really menacing, but there are many different tactics Sherie could have taken to make her better. I realize it's a kid's show, but another thing I appreciate about Disney is that they don't shy away from their villains' evilness. Sherie just plays her as kind of an annoyance instead of someone who should be feared. Plus, she seems to be just taking her whole experience in the show as nothing. She brought nothing interesting to the stage when I saw it and gave the definition of a phoned in performance.
I just got a rear mezz ticket for tomorrow afternoon...will report back about Sherie's final performance.
