I heard a rumor it is coming to Broadway. Would probably be awesome. Does anybody heard anything about it?

I think Nathan Lane would make a great Ursula.

yeah...Nothing in the world will stop me from seeing this show as soon as it opens...whether i have to sell my car or something..don't care...I just hope they pick someone great for Ariel. I think someone with that gorgeous high toned voice like Ashley Brown (currently singing Part of Your World in On the Record) or Sutton Foster, Kerry Butler...someone like that

LOL Nathan Lane as Ursula!

and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...

Nathan can play Ursulla as long as Matthew Broderick plays Ariel.

PERFECT CASTING! I can hear it in my head - the "Now, sing" part. Matthew Broderick...red wig...shell bra...oh, yes.

Actually, I think it's been mentioned here that the best Ursula would be Harvey Fierstein. I mean, it's as if Ursula was written for his talent in mind!

If they were going to go with a male for the part of Ursala, that would be very funny. However, if they were going to go with a female, Roseanne!! hehe

Anybody know whow as in the readings for it? I know Kerry Butler did a reading as Ariel (which I think is well-cast, thought she was great in Hairspray and BatBoy, not so much LSOH). Was there an Ursula at the reading?

SNAP!
BroadwayGuy2...nice.

Okay, last I'd heard about a possible mounting of The Little Mermaid for the Broadway stage was years ago: the first time I'd heard that Emily Skinner was reading for Ursula, and then after all the Hairspray success, I heard about it again and it was rumoured that Emily Skinner was still reading for Ursula and that Kerry Butler was reading for Ariel.

Now I can't remember off the top of my head if I saw this (a reading/workshop/anything of Little Mermaid) in her (Emily's) bio when I saw her in On The Record, but it seemed legit. Now I'm not sure how legit any of it is or what the actual possibility of it coming to Broadway or truly being adapted for the stage is since it's been talked about for so long and it seems like nothing's happened with it yet...but if so, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Emily is still a part of it, and I actually think Kerry would be pretty good too...

If I show you the darkness I hold inside, will you bring me to light?

The girl who played Miss Dorothy in the original 'Millie' cast, I think, would make a great Ariel

Angela Christian (Miss Dorothy) is currently the title role of Woman in White in London, and I wouldn't be surprised if she plays it here too (she's American).

As much as I liked her in Millie and I'm sure she'd probably be fine as Ariel, I think Kerry's great for the part... Kerry comes off as much younger, and Ariel was drawn to be ~18 years old.

I think she was supposed to 16. I haven't seen the movie in a while, but I think Ariel has a line where she says she's 16

Can't think of the line either, but that sounds about right.

I bet Disney would cast alot of people that are not as famous and well known. Isn't that what they did with the Lion King?
