I might as well put in my two cents. This show is a favorite of mine. (Obvious) I saw Gideon Glick and the rest of the regular cast. I realize my icon shows some bias and I did see Ellen do the role at Encores, but I was not about to let that stop me from enjoying the show. First off I have seen Tammy as Judy Garland and Sybil and I do think she is a good actress. I like that she tried to play a more hard-boiled Audrey. My main concern is sadly that sometimes it is difficult make out what she is saying due to her odd delivery (which some people described as “drunk” or “drugged”). For me this was a real problem, especially during the death scene.
I know this isn’t an opinion many people share, but a little of Mr. Borle goes a VERY VERY long way. He seems more interested in finding various bits of business to do to show off and get all the laughs, rather than actually interact with the people on stage with him.
Everyone else in the cast was very good and I like that they tried to be true to the original production, but I’d like to see a version on this same small scale that plays up the darkness of the story.
Another day, another dollar is the reality of my mentality. Otherwise, don't even bother.- TLC
