Since her name was mentioned earlier too (JohnPopa- If you'd like me to present Exhibit 2, you just let me know now, ya hear?), I would like to make a special shout out to Chase Mishkin. Your boy, Matt Cavenaugh was GREAT in Urban Cowboy. I heard the photo shoot was a lot of fun. That picture will go down in history!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JohnPopa, relax, nobody ever said that the theater is a close knit community in this town! HAH...there are no footlight Gandhi's posting in this thread. We all know the score.
Simply commenting about yet another "hearsay" quote from someone who seems to post a great deal of them.
All is well, move along....

EddieVarley, your icon is scary.

Posted: 8/26/04 at 1:18pmNot as scary as some of the people on this board. I think I'm gonna have an Egg Cream now and think happy thoughts.

Here's some happy thoughts for Phantom2:
"Shiny happy people laughing
Meet me in the crowd
People people
Throw your love around
Love me love me
Take it into town
Happy happy
Put it in the ground
Where the flowers grow
Gold and silver shine
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing
Everyone around love them, love them
Put it in your hands
Take it take it
There's no time to cry
Happy happy
Put it in your heart
Where tomorrow shines
Gold and silver shine
Shiny happy people holding hands
Shiny happy people laughing"

Posted: 8/26/04 at 1:28pmTo me, the clips are just okay, but I am a fan of Sutton - again, can't judge a show based on a few clips that are demos.

I will drink out of Phantom2's half-full glass anyday, please go back to your half-empty mug, thank you.
And I don't see what posting REM's lyrics does in adding to either your argument or points, intelligent debate about theater is inspirational, foolish deflection is not.

Phantom2 is hardly 'half full' unless you mean 'half full of it.' Everyone knows he's an 'insider' (because he tries so hard to make sure we know ... vaguely, not enough that we can call him out on his BS) and he comes here and posts under his pseudonym so he can talk about his peers and colleagues without any personal accountability. And that's the open theater communication we're supposed to shoot for?
Call me crazy, but I'll take some more snarky people who are honest about their motivations and intentions any day of the week.

Spoken like a true anonymous pseudonym.....teehee.
Hey, I post my thoughts as me and very often enjoy being snarky, and just felt like adding my worthless two cents to this thread, I respect your opinions JP and always do, no need for a battleski..
And as for Phanty, he is always open and kind to me, I call 'em as I see 'em, he could be a bag lady for all I care.
Now let's talk about Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Posted: 8/26/04 at 2:08pmJohnPopa can you hear me? It's not about who you are. Whether you're Nathan Lane, Broadwayguy2 or a cute hostess at Red Lobster, there is no need to be mean and nasty. Additionally, what "BS" did I ever say? BroadwayTheatre11- Shine the light on JohnPopa, he's up next!

Sincerely, I stand corrected, Phantom2. While I honestly am very annoyed with people posting anonymously instead of using their names (an argument I have on just about every message board on Earth, not just theater ones) the fact is all your posts are positive and, other than being lustful to an epic degree, you aren't someone who's talking about people behind their backs on message boards.
Seriously, I was wrong to say that. I apologize.

Posted: 8/26/04 at 2:48pmi am not "an insider"...im a tshirt girl who just happens to know people in the biz... producers get demo cds and scripts to raise funds for incoming shows... when stuff is tossed around that they do not like, the first things out of their mouths are "this will never last".. and then on to the next group of producers who actually believe in the project. Different people have different tastes... My taste is BROOKLYN..I personally feel it's going to be a huge success because the story, music and direction are all fresh and fun...and the cast are all talented, young people who will be adored like the 1996 cast of rent. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be huge as well..fun family show.. looks like a large cast. We need more of these shows.

Young lady you have a right to your opinion, but I have to say "gossip" is a hollow form of discourse.
JohnPopa and Phantom2 proved that good things do come of debate today.

was i gossiping? NO... gossip would be me saying...I saw Chase Mishkin in Boston Market eating turkey and the turkey told her..did you see a theaterfan on a MESSAGE BOARD posting her friends opinion???? OH NO!!! btw..ya should of ordered the dark meat.
ps
thats the problem with "new members" because they are actually in the business (are the shows writers, producers and cast) and they dont like to hear ANYTHING bad being said..so they will come here and bust little fans about any little thing said about their show... if you dont like it, dont buy the NY TIMES..cause if u think im bad or stupid... theres a guy named ben brantley.. NUFF said im going to tap class.

Posted: 8/27/04 at 3:08amI don't think you can generalize about new members and not liking anything bad being said. The bottom line is it's just not cool to bash a show because a friend of a friend of a friend heard a CD. That's all folks!

Which brings me back to my original point. Ben Brantley reviews shows AFTER he's seen them, after they've had tryouts and weeks of previews. He doesn't make stupid comments about shows based on what someone said about a demo cd of a show that isn't even in rehearsals yet. You need to find a much better analogy.

Posted: 8/27/04 at 9:54amso now my "opinions" are stupid... sorry i bashed your show shill...the only stupid thing i can think of around here...ahhh nevermind not a waste of MY time or energy... i have a life to lead read ya l8r :) Updated On: 8/27/04 at 09:54 AM
#73re: Little Woman Posting about Little Women at the Virginia
Posted: 8/27/04 at 9:57amCan it really be your opinion when you're basing it on nothing? And again, I am not a shill, it just astounds me that you're so eager to bash a show that you're doing it this early.
#74re: Little Woman Posting about Little Women at the Virginia
Posted: 8/27/04 at 10:00amIm kind of shocked that this turned into me bashing a show..i said NOTHING to bash a show...you people really are strange... i could care less if LW does well or not.
