"Little Women" Lost In The Crowd

I think once the show hits New York that it will do very well. Not only is it something that's going to sell out with all the families in the city for the holidays, but it's got Sutton Foster who is a big draw right now.

VARIETY's review of LITTLE WOMEN states that the show emphasizes humor and comedy at the expense of emotion. Likes the cast. Finds the show generally "pleasant." Not bad but not a review to insure boffo b.o.

I think I might be going to see that in December. Woot :o)

No matter how many "I heart Sutt" threads are going to show up (and I'm not denying that there will be tons), I'm pretty sure there won't be any "Sutt is such a b!tch at the stage door" or "What's up with the gasping??" threads about Ms. Foster.

So at least she's worth it.

When "Little Women" finally hits NY, it's definitely going to be a big hit. I'm still not sure why they're having insanely long previews, but I'm sure there's a method to the madness.

As for Sutton's 12 year old stalkers... *sigh* it'd be nice if they knew her name and didn't run up to her and attack her while screaming, "JO!" but... I suppose if I were twelve, I'd do the same thing.

Eh, wait, I lied. I'd at least know her name.

LW really has a lot of potential though, it's just running over-long right now and there are some areas where the dramatic intensity could be a little higher. I think it's going to be a real crowd pleaser though because it is definitely family friendly, it's based on something that everyone has read or seen the movie of at least a dozen times, and because even though the music isn't totally traditional, the show itself is.

I'm actually going to see Little Women this Friday ((4 more days!!!!)) at Duke. It's really close to my home, so I thought I'd go ahead and see the previews for 25 bucks so I won't have to pay 100 later! I can't wait- I've heard some of the music, and love it all. I'm betting that it will be an amazing show! All 3 hours of it!

If only a few shows (BKLYN..Taboo..Urban Cowboy..Never Gonna Dance..must I continue?) would have had a looong preview period.

I don't think it's going to turn out that way, DGrant. Maureen McGovern and John Hickok are particular standouts - ESPECIALLY Maureen. She was absolutely AMAZING. :)
