You read the headline correctly. Read the end of this Jim Hill article, linked below. While Jim Hill often writes of rumors/news that is often "talk" and never sees the light-of-day, his information is always correct.

2011/2016?
Yes. Read the article. It's the 20th and 25th anniversary of the film. Of course, Disney doesn't NEED to attach those extra bits of publicity to it, but they do and I guess it works for them. Leads me to believe that Jim Hill's source is someone in the company who was at "the" meeting and the result was that a movie musical of BEAUTY & THE BEAST is "on the to-do list" but nowhere near development, and I doubt it will see the light of day just like HUNCHBACK on Broadway or the HUNCHBACK TV musical.
Much like the lES MIZ movie...
A year ago, Wikipedia had on Anne Hathaway's article "signed on to play Belle in live-action BEAUTY AND THE BEAST-- date unknown". They took it off now though.
Oh, Anne Hathaway would be an excellent Belle, although she's currently being rumored for pretty much every movie musical that's coming out in the next 5 years (except for maybe In the Heights ), so I doubt that's true.

Anne Hathaway immediately came to my mind for Belle.
Anne Hathaway to play Belle was the first thing to come to my mind too.
I don't care whose in it -- so long as "Home," "If I Can't Love Her," and "A Change in Me," among the countless other beautiful songs not in the other movie are in it!

Not going to lie, I would totally go see it!
I would also! Hopefully nothing will be left cut from the Broadway production. I will accept additions... but cutting gets fans upset (ala Hairspray: Mama, I'm A Big Girl Now). Also, I hope that it is a 2-hour long movie. If other production companies can make 2-3 hour movies, why can't Disney? The only one I have heard are Pirates of the Caribbean... and I usually pay attention to Disney stuff.
Calling Hugh Jackman!

Only if it's in 2011. I rather not have a zombie play the role.

i am grinning like a complete idiot right now. this would be all sort of wonderful.
I read one of the first drafts of the script about 1 & 1/2 years ago. Disney is still on board to do it. But, like so many things in film and tv, it can all change in an instant.
So, time will tell.

So no one seems to be curious as to how they're doing the enchanted objects?
I'm guessing just really good CGI or puppetry?

Oh, enough with the 3-D movies already!
Beastly has got my interest, I could picture it being a total disaster though.
