Live Action SNOW WHITE with new music - Disney

Why doesn't Disney just announce "We're doing live action versions of our entire animated catalogue."?  I'm looking forward to the live action The Fox and the Hound.

Where's that Steve Carroll Office gif when I need it cause...NO...GOD NO.

What's it's gonna be?? Rock? Just no...Beauty and the Beast is a rare thing that's pitch perfection but still can be remade and in ways...deserves it. Weirdly enough, since I usually would say "don't touch perfection"

The live action remakes are ok to a point...I'm sorry but their Snow White is sacred, holy ground that should not be touched...period...in any way. I thought Disney was smarter than this. Doing a remake of it now makes me scared a SEQUEL to it will come and I will riot if that happens.

I might be in the minority with this opinion, but I just...can't see this working well.

Terrible idea. Aside from the aforementioned sacredness this particular property holds, it's also lightyears away from what is acceptable in terms of modern storytelling. It's pure FAIRY TALE and they would have to rewrite so much of it to make it PC or progressive or whatever.

^ Or maybe they'll do none of that and just do what they do best, and still make hundreds of millions of dollars. And that's okay.

I'd like to see a Fantasia 3... since at least one short in each Fantasia involves an existing Disney property or characters, I'd love to see a Star Wars short set to "Mars: Bringer of War" or a "Planets" suite; Holst is my favorite classical composer.

This one I'd actually like to see happen, especially considering how wonderful Cinderella was...and how good Beauty and the Beast looks so far.

I'm still baffled how they could possibly make a "live action" Dumbo. There isn't a single human character in that story.

There's humans in it, they're just not in the forefront. It's the Lion King remake I worry about in this respect.

I actually didn't mind Cinderella not being a 'musical', but I also think that because there's not much music' in that movie. While I like all the songs from the original, The only song the world really cares about in that is the one "A Dream...heart makes". And that was also an era where Disney films were more "movies with songs" that became the standard pop singles of the day, not full musicals with the idea of "stage " so to speak. It's probably why I didn't miss the songs from Cinderella, it didn't really need them.

B and the B...Disney would never have been able to remake their own original one WITHOUT those songs because 1.EVERY single one of those songs are true timeless classics that the whole planet knows and they WOULD be missed  2. Beauty and the Beast was written from a stage musical perspective of storytelling to begin with, with actual plot moving songs, like pretty much every 90's Disney film does. It's why almost all of them could work on stage, the essence is more or less inherent in all of them (some way more than others).

As for Alice's thought if they'll actually end up making all these live actions...I personally think they will, but if I had to pick any to potentially be nixed for whatever reason, it would be this one and dare I say it...little mermaid.

the number one thing I wonder about all these upcoming Disney remakes (and the several that have already occurred) is: WHY??? it's so unnecessary. Yes, obviously it's a shameless cash-grab that will most likely succeed every step of the way. I still haven't seen the Cinderella or Jungle Book because of how unnecessary they are.

 laughcrying laughing!

Seriously though, that one is an underrated favorite.

And to gypsy...yeah I agree to a point. I don't mind SOME being redone, some deserve it and I actually don't mind remakes on the whole, but when the entirety of Hollywood seems to have lost any creativity and ingenuity and is just on TOO MUCH of a remakeitis rampage...I'm bored. I know sequels and remakes have always been sure things financially but I truly think the masses want something else now.

I respect your opinion... but to me it's WHY NOT?!?!   If done well, why not enhance and broaden an audience for material that is obviously beloved by many generations.  Was Cinderella meant to exist only once, as an animated film, and not be interpreted in other art forms? (whether it be stage, musical or live-action film? Even by the same studio?)  The live-action Cinderella was critically adored, loved by audiences worldwide, and personally I thought it was exhilarating - a fantastically produced film with smart performances, sumptuous production values, and a lot of heart.  My kids love the live-action film, and for some reason never took to the animated classic.  Comparing both - as much as I love the animated film, I feel the live action film is actually a bit better.  We're all the beneficiary of having both to enjoy.

Between Mirror Mirror (which flopped) and Snow White and the Huntsman (whose sequel flopped) aren't we sick of Snow White?

A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

One of the reasons for the remakes is to keep disney fairytales relevant to a new generation. Sadly many kids these days view 2d animation the same way we may have viewed black and white movies. I know quite a few parents whose kids are not interested in the older disney movie's, sadly. This brings the stories to a new audience, which in tern helps other elements of the business (e.g. theme parks)

Im all for them if they are done well but so far its all been a bit hit and miss. Maleficent was a massive missed opportunity despite a brilliant central performance. Jungle Book was a pleasent surprise and cinderella for me fell somewhere between the two.
