Liz is definitely an icon and legend, but her time has passed. With each passing year her "gossip" gets less and less revelant and the people she is speaking about and getting her information from are mostly obscure. When her column starts, "I was out to lunch with Kathie Lee Gifford..." you know you are in trouble. She just cant compete with all the celeb information that floods the media now.

She lives in my neighborhood and goes to the same hair place as I do. I saw her about 6 weeks ago. She looked rather frail.

Curtain, I had the exact same thought when I saw this headline. I much prefer Liz Smith to Cindy Adams, who annoys me to no end.
