Liz freaking Callaway~

I think she has one of the most powerful, beautiful, and intense voices out there. Has anyone out there actually SEEN her perform? (besides on special 'song performance' DVDs)...I mean, live.

ANDDD...does anyone KNOW which character she is in the OCR of Baby? Because if she's Liz...then WOW can she do some different things with her voice.

Her voice is just so joyful and youthful and effortless and gorgeous.
Her voice makes me so happy.

I did, at Broadway Under the Stars last Summer. All I could think of was the animated movie of The Swan Princess or whatever, but her voice is beautiful.

me too...but doesn't she play Chris's wife in Miss Saigon?....she doesn't sound youthful in that show to me. She sounds so meaty..i just love it.

I love her. She is VERY VERY talented. and SO down to earth...i actually did have a chance to hear her perform..i was in a workshop w/ her awhile back, and i didnt know that she was fairly well known, and i just remember her being SO sweet. But yes... very talented, and beautiful woman :)

She performed 2 songs at the Stephen Schwartz event. "One Wicked Night with Stephen Scwartz". She was absolutely amazing.

My dad who hates every performer except Rebecca Luker fell in love with her. I believe his words were "perfection" and even nudged me to go to talk her. So the three of us had a nice chat for 10-or so-minutes. She is one of the sweetest, easiest to talk to, real performer. I wish her all the luck that I can offer.

I love on the Follies Concert DVD where they show her backstage getting into character.

She keeps repeating to herself in the happiest voice imagineable:
"I AM Young Sally, I AM Young Sally, I am Young SALLY, I AM Young Sally..."

She also performed Meadowlark at the last Standing Ovations Concert. As Craig Brockman would attest, she was mesmerizing.

matthius - she is generally regarded as having the definitive rendition of 'Meadowlark'. We've seen her many times - she is a staple on the cabaret circuit - also appearing with her sister Ann Hampton-Callaway. She also performs regularly with Jason Graae, who is also very wonderful.

I have heard it said, though, by people who work with her, that there's not much beyond the sweetness and gentility that's presented - kind of a mid-western deadness behind the eyes. I, however, don't find that to be a negative - I just think she doesn't see the darkness that others do, and it shows in her singing, which is pure, powerful and full of life.

My favorite song recording of hers is 'A Place Called Home'.

I fell in love with her when I first heard the OBC of BABY. She and her sister are remarkable.

Margo - have you heard her recording 'The Beat Goes On'? It's all her favorite songs from the sixties - and instantly became one of my favorite CD's to have in the car

what a voice she has man. i saw both Callaways at the Night Life Awards and they were both fantastic. So talented.

I only know her from BABY and few other random songs I've heard her sing. I have one of her sister's albums, but nothing else from her. I should probably pick that one up.

I adore her in Miss Saigon, yes she plays Ellen, Chris's wife. Incredible voice.

Margo - while you're at it - get the recording of the act she and Ann did a few years back - Sibling Revelry - they do some amazing duets, and her version of My Heart Is So Full of You (Most Happy Fella) is tremendous. I also love her on the Original cast recording of Spitfire Grill.

I saw Liz and her sister at Arci's in NY doing Sibling Revelry. Absolutely wonderful.

She was Liz in Baby, but while she was Chris's wife Ellen in Miss Saigon in the original NY cast, she is not on the cast recording which was the London cast. Her Ellen has not been recorded. That is Claire Moore on the recording.

The truly beautiful should be lawfully restricted from wearing clothing; and the truly butt-ugly should be lawfully mandated from going naked.

Actually the whole Frank Loesser "Anywhere I Wander" album is a treat, with a lavishly orchestrated version of the aforementioned "My Heart is So Full of You".

All of her albums are excellent. I prefer The Story Goes On however.

I saw Liz perform last month at the Kennedy Center's Andrew Lloyed Webber concert. I really enjoyed her performances- made me not hate the songs.
