I will be there tomorrow evening and am about to lose my mind from excitement. This will be my first time seeing her.

I would presume that Chrysler is going to be rather full just from the number of folks I know in Richmond who are making the trek, let alone those in the huge Norfolk/Beach area. But agreed...the prices are unusually high for an event like this in this area.

Am very excited about seeing Patti too...exactly one month from tomorrow!

That's fine. I was just showing you somewhere it might be more popular. You may want to post it over there.

I saw her show at the Palace over Christmas, and if she performs at that level, you are in for a huge treat. One of the best live performances I have ever seen. Yes, the voice is a little ragged, but she knows exactly how to use it, and the "Williams Brothers" provide expert support.

She is one of the last true Vaudevillians, and knows exactly how to please an audience!

OK, so last night.

Amazing. Simply amazing. I cannot remember a night I have spent in a theater where pretty much every number performed received a standing ovation...and one that was ever so well-deserved!

To call the evening electrifying is an understatement. The woman is sheer perfection (even when she is not in top voice and seems to be struggling though the evening). Her first act was pretty much a carbon copy of the Palace show. The second act replaced the Kay Thompson set with "Liza with a Z," "Alexander's Ragtime Band," and a duet with Billy Stritch that is escaping me at the minute...and she encored with "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye." She had the audience eating out of the palm of her hand from the minute she stepped on stage until the curtain finally fell.

Like I said, there were times where she was definitely struggling to get through the evening, but it brought a constant smile to my face to see the trandmark moves and poses and hear that voice. It may sound like total cheese, but last night really was a dream come true for me.

matty, thank you for sharing your thoughts. seeing Liza live was a dream come true for me as well...and it's no wonder i saw her show at the Palace eleven times...I couldn't stay away.

so glad it was a wonderful experience for you!

Foster, honey, I understand your desire to keep people focused (Good luck with that! LOL!), but some performers transcend location. After seeing her at the Palace in December, I went online to see where I could see her next. I came "this close" to buying (2nd row center orchestra!) seats for Norfolk, but decided against it for several reasons. (BTW, Norfolk is not close to DC.)

I would have traveled (and still will under the right circumstances) to see Liza because she IS Broadway! So in this once instance, I respectfully ask you to reconsider chiding someone for starting a thread about Liza in Virginia and try to just relive the whole Palace thing while Matty shares his exuberance. re: Liza Minnelli To Play Chrysler Hall For One Night Only, 4/24 (Oh, unless you didn't like Liza's show at the Palace. I don't remember. Sorry!)
