More news about it today at Playbill:

"The producer also revealed that they are currently in negotiation with 'a major star' to take the show to Broadway."

I wonder if they are talking about Michael Crawford reprising the role of the Wizard on Broadway.

"Dorothy- Danielle Hope is lovely, though I don't think they would transfer her."

A U.K. Tour is planned and there's always the chance that she will reprise the role in that production instead like Connie Fisher reprising the role of Maria in the U.K. tour of "The Sound of Music" after originating the role in the 2006 West End revival.

Unless they got a big star I absolutely HAD to see on stage, I'd pass it up. The new songs really don't do much for me and I've seen the movie too many times to justify the need for seeing a lesser attempt made on the material (which I've seen before in a decent production).

I wouldn't go as far as to start calling Tony noms/wins for a show that may or may not transfer. But, I do think it could have a healthy life should it transfer. As others have said it would bring in the tourists.

Besides, I promised both my mom and sister that we would all see it if it does transfer.

I think it would be unwise to bring it to Broadway.

They just did The Wizard of Oz musical maybe three years ago at the huge theatre at Madison Square Garden and they had trouble filling it.

Better to bring Evita and Love Never Dies and transfer JCS.

I think Webber is counting his losses now that he's been hemorraging money on salvaging "Love Never Dies". This is probably why he's bringing the Stratford JCS to Broadway instead of his "arena tour" idea, to save on production costs.

If he does bring "The Wizard of Oz" to Broadway, I think he'd need to do the reality casting format in order to have a true hit. I think the show would do better than the Grease show - Americans would rather watch divas duke it out for a coveted American screen role, and I think would enjoy having a stock in giving birth to the "next Judy".

Grease didn't work because of it's dual casting format. Viewers couldn't put stock in one performer, since their attention was divided between the Dannys and Sandys. And nonetheless, Grease on Broadway still pulled a profit.

Anymore news on a transfer? If it means anything I doubt Hannah will transfer as many had hoped seeing as she has now left the UK production.

I've always wanted to see him live, and he might be the one compelling reason for me to see it.

Same. The main reason I would go would be to see Crawford in person.
