Anything new about this? When's it coming?
Would this be a 7th revival for this season, or will it be the following season?
Almost certainly next season...

I hope that they just recast the whole thing with americans. I find myself in the minority of people who weren't really fans of the new London recording. I think that this show is more of a visually tantalizing musical and you need to see it to truly experience it so I am certainly happy with a transfer. However, even with the beautiful score, I was turned off by the latest recording.
After the closing show I asked the cast about the whole move to Broadway and they said it was almost certain but that they wouldn't be transfering with the show to NY. That said, it looks like it will be an American cast if it transfers.
They might be a bit crazy to try to throw this up in what looks like an already-crowded season.
YES! One of my favorite shows!

In the Broadway.com Michael Cerveris ask a star interview, he said he'd love to play George again...
do we see this happening???
Cerveris is the worst George I've ever heard, and totally wrong for this particular directorial concept. I sincerely hope he comes no where near it. He's too old anyway.
I too would like to see it re-cast with Americans.

If this is true, I'm gonna be in Sondheim heaven.

Then all I'd want is a Night Music and real Follies revival and I can die happily with having seen revivals of all his best. Oh and maybe Passion too, but I don't think anything can top what you see on the dvd.

Oh please spare us the Cerveris. He wasn't that great as Sweeney, and he doesn't need to be in every Sondheim revival on Broadway. (Funny how Raul Esparza, the guy who's going to break the Cerveris pattern, is the first actor who came to mind for me for the role of George.)

Since when was Cerveris in Pacific Overtures? I agree, I would not like to see him in this at all, his Sweeney was a little underwhelming.

Okay, let's just say that the PBS Passion makes up for the lack of a part for a white guy in Overtures. :P

I didn't have the chance of seeing this production in London but from what I've gathered, I'd much rather see a younger person in the role. Michael Bennett suggested Neil Patrick Harris in another thread, that would be my number one choice.
And I've said this a million times before, but I'll say it one more time, Ms.Jane Krakowski's agent should be doing whatever he/she can to make her be cast as Dot.
Cerveris' Sweeney was not underwhelming to all of us.
To me, it was a masterful performance. The single most intense and appropriate performance I have ever seen.
I am still patiently waiting for SITPWG, I really hope it actually is on its way.
Yeah, and I was just throwing it out there because I like him and I was wondering what people thought. Relax, Plum.
I wish they would just bring over the (most recent) London cast. I saw the show in August and it was outstanding. I never liked the score before seeing it.

Krakowski's agent is doing very well by her these days -- she's co-starring in NBC's very-hyped new show "30 Rock" this fall. So I guess we can forget about her playing Dot anytime soon. And Harris' show "How I Met Your Mother" is back for another season so I guess he's out too for now.
Say what you will about the cast recording, but Daniel Evans and Jenna Russell were both terrific when I saw them in London a couple of weeks ago -- better in many ways than Patinkin and Peters. Perhaps, their remarkably magnetic, subtle and heartfelt performances didn't translate on the CD, but live they were first rate. I'd love for them to be able to repeat those performances here, though I know the odds of that happening are remote.
And yes, PLEASE keep Cerveris far away from this show. He's been OK in other things, but he's wrong and too old for George.
Esparza did pretty well as George at the Kennedy Center, though he could have benefitted from a bit more rehearsal time (he didn't seem like he'd totally found the role yet). However, I'm not sure that he'd be a good fit for this particular production either. And I'm not sure who would be.......
Margo is right as usual.
I saw the show in London in June and thought both Daniel Evans and Jenna Russell were magnificent- Daniel Evans's performance, especially, surpassed the original.
Unfortunately the chances of Russell and Evans coming here are very remote although they would of course do the show on
Broadway in a heartbeat.
Cerveris would be totally wrong for George but not because of age. He's just too identified at this point with Sondheim shows and he needs to take a breather and let other people survey the Sondheim leads.
You will all disagree with me on this but JAMES BARBOUR would be perfect. He has the right intensity for the part of George and he has a very cold remote quality which will work very well in the part. I know he has had some legal problems but he has been performing in LA....
PLEASE...PLEASE tell me that George isn't going to have to play the piccolo or anything.
Looks around and sees the Sweeney avatars disappearing. Sweeney?? Sweeney??

Don't worry, the toned down orchestrations are not going to be filled in by the actors. You are a lot like TheEnchantedHunter except without those silly pennames at the bottom, thanks! At least you saved us that trouble.
