It's funny too because Donna is credited on the front of the album... huh.
I just got mine and I love it. A VERY different listening experience. I think the only recording that is superior to the OBC, though, is "Where Can You Take A Girl?" It is a rather jaunty and amusing interpretation.
I find Betty's natural southern twang coming through a bit of a surprise. I love her on "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" especially. She has not fully understood her instrument by this point that seems clear. Still, beautiful
Tony is good, but his read on the title song is a bit lacking in energy. Still, he has a different take on C.C. and I can appreciate.
Awesome orchestra!!! Love the bonus track!!
Thank you and congratulations!
Now, when are we hearing about these next two releases? =)

Posted: 8/10/10 at 6:13pmOne comes next week - it's a somewhat personal project because of my love for its songwriter - it's been out on CD before, but we've cleaned it up and added five bonus tracks that are really fun. The one that follows that is receiving the Promises treatment - a two CD set, one CD of which will be a new mix (I had to - after I heard the original session tapes as opposed to the LP mix, the sound blew me away - unbelievably great recording before it was drowned in way too heavy swimmy reverb).

Also, clearly, Donna is nowhere to be heard on the album.

Posted: 8/10/10 at 6:41pmYour teases intrigue. The personal one sounds like only one person wrote it so I'm thinking that through. My initial guess is Drood but you had said before reissuing this disc is a risk. Too much reverb? I'm at a loss with the latter one.

Posted: 8/11/10 at 10:46amThanks Bruce about 20 years ago I hunted all over london for a copy to no success...then 2 co-workers decided to call dress circle for me and they ordered the album as a surprise (big betty fan when she is with an orchestra..not crazy about her with just a piano voice can be shrilly) but this is an amazing cd sounds great and made me think of how obsessed I was about this recording at one time.....you are greatky appreciated by YOUR fans!!!

My copy arrived in London this morning. Thank you!
The entire recording sounds fantastic. Not only do have the classier sound of the 60s but we get a young Betty Buckley belting out a fantastic "Knowing When to Leave" and then showing off her tender side on the other tracks.
This is one recording I never expected to own on CD. Thanks again. Now if only there was a Gone with the Wind CD, a Merman Dolly and a remastered La Cage OBC I would be an even happier man.
Well a proper Carrie OBC rather than soundesk too would be nice but thats just being fantastical.

Pastor - I'm in Toronto and still waiting. Had a slot on Sunday morning's program where I could have used a track but if it comes next week I'll feature it next Saturday.
Kingas: The 2 Merman DOLLY tracks are on the Deluxe edition of HELLO DOLLY. (These were all that was recorded.)
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Posted: 8/14/10 at 2:42amI wish we had some control over the postal services of each country, but we don't. I'm sure they'll all get there fine - sometimes it's quick, sometimes it's not. But everything that was pre-ordered was shipped out the same day.

Mine arrived in Yorkshire on the 11th but I do find mail delivery across the Atlantic to be very unpredictable.
The same might be said of male delivery across the Atlantic but I digress...
