To Bruce and everyone at Kritzerland- Bravo, again I say- Bravo!
Another fine job- and yes, this is quite a different listening experience than the OBC- but what a gem!
The sound is very good, and these performances sound terrific- Buckley is wonderful, and I can't thank you enough for finally getting this released on CD- well done!
This will be on repeat on the iPod for a while- nice job all around!
Glad you're enjoying it and glad you found the surprise - I had to do it :)
And for our show collectors, more coming soon - one that's very personal to me - probably won't sell that well, but just something I have to do because I love it and its songwriter, and one that is a score I'm very fond of - the latter has been out on CD before but has been oop for a while and after listening to both the album master and the original session tapes, I'm going to include both ala Promises - the album mix (sounding better than before) and a new mix, because the session tapes blew me away with how spectacular the actual recording (pre-mixing) is. Hopefully sales will justify cost :)

Let's get guessing! I doubt they're titles that would be released by Sony Masterworks so keep that in mind. I want someone to put out I'm Getting My Act... but this is probably not the opportunity. I'm gonna guess Woman of the Year, Whoop-Up, and/or the anticipated A Time For Singing.
It arrived today (!) and just have completed my first listen. All I can say is if you have only heard this on LP, you haven’t heard it. WOW. Bruce Kimmel does another masterful job … all tracks in show order, and a special bonus surprise!!
If you haven’t ordered it already (it’s already sold out, yes?) I hope you have a friend who did!!!
"HUH? They are discussing the ORIGINAL LONDON CAST RECORDING with Tony Roberts and Betty Buckley."
I think muscle23ftl understands that. I read his post as merely saying that from looking at the headline of this thread, he thought it was going to be an announcement that the Broadway revival was going to be produced in London. Then when he read the thread, he saw what it actually was about.
I think Screen Archives still has some, too, but not a lot. Footlight and SAE are the only two dealers that got it, and they didn't get all that many. So, don't wait too long.
I just got my copy in the mail, and it sounds awesome! I can't wait to listen to the bonus track, but I find myself playing the punchy overture over and over and over again. Thanks so much for this recording!
I find myself playing the punchy overture over and over and over again.
Me too. It just amazes me how the musicians can make the overture just leap off the recording. So much energy and excitement. This would apply to the original cast recording that bk released as well. The current revival recording just kind of lays there without the least amount of passion. When I first heard the first couple of notes of the overture on the revival cast recording I thought to myself, "Uh-oh! This recording is in need of some serious CPR".
I'm also thrilled listening to Buckley singing "I'll Never Fall in Love Again". She holds back on the belt and her voice has a beautiful purity about it.
I just got mine today and listened to the whole thing and it sounds wonderful. I love how all three albums, The original broadway, original london and the revival all have very distinct sounds. All three are completely different from each other and especially the london and Broadway have such personality.
Betty Buckley sounds amazing and I too love the bonus track!
The bonus track is "Natale Dura Un Giorno Solamente" (A Fact Can Be A Beautiful Thing) sung by Bice Valori and Johnny Dorrelli from the 1971 Italian Cast Recording.
Not so much of a bonus track for me...since I already own that recording as well.
The fun thing about the bonus track - for those of us who don't have the complete Italian recording - is that in the liner notes there is mention that the Italian recording is the only recording that include the dance music from that number.
So, of course, mind mind went to.. "I'd like to hear that.. where can I find a copy"... and then SURPRISE.. it is there at the end to enjoy!
Showtunes are fun.

Why is Alix Kirsta credited as Vivien Della Hoya instead of Donna McKechnie in the liner notes?
I can't comment on the album yet, my copy arrived damaged (And yes, I already emailed you about BK, I'm not posting here as a "Gee I'm unhappy" I just didn't want to seem like a bitch asking about the liner notes and not saying anything about the album.)
Because we took the cast list from a program I was given - I just assumed it was the original, but I guess Donna had already left by the time of this program - I think everyone else is original to the production, which is why I didn't even look.
