Hey Folks
Looking for cast based in Manchester for 2 upcoming productions at Taurus on Canal Street.
We are presenting the first UK productions of the brilliant Tony Nominated writer Charles Busch plays Die Mommie Die and Psycho Beach Party.
Both shows run for 1 week each back to back but we are already talking to other venues about moving the shows there. Unpaid work (for the Taurus Productions only) but great exposure given the plays and the UK Premiere tag.
We rehearse ever Sunday from Nov 7th up to March 21st (opening night of Die Mommie Die) with Psycho Beach Party following on the 28th March. A few Sundays can be missed as it is a long period to rehearse (simply due to producing 2 plays at once). You would only be in for 5 hrs on a Sunday as the 10 hour day is split in to 2 for the both shows.
Psycho Beach Party is part parody part homage to the 1960s beach movies like Muscle Beach, Beach Blanket Bingo etc. It was turned in to a movie (where a serial killer plot was added) and has become a cult hit, it ran over a year Off Broadway.
Die Mommie Die is a homage/parody of the 1950s/1960s melodrama movies that starred Bette Davies, Joan Crawford, Lana Turner etc in films like Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, Dead Ringers, Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte etc. The play was also turned in to a movie starring Busch in the lead role as Angela Arden which he won the Sundance film festival award for best performance. The play opened to rave reviews in NY.
We are looking for male actors aged 18 -30 for both plays to play the roles of Lance (Lead role in Die Mommie Die) and as Yo Yo and Provoloney (In Psycho Beach Party)
As well as an actor to play a female role of a mother (Think Joan Crawford crossed with A Streford Wife....only unhinged in Psycho Beach Party) age 35+
And an actress 30+ to play the role of Bootsie in Die Mommie Die, brilliant role
