Jordan, it was. (I just looked it up.)
Hurlyburly and The Real Thing.
Two original Broadway roles ... at the same time.
EDIT: And she also had a nice featured role as Mozart's maid in the film version of "Amadeus" which won Best Picture that year. 1984 was a really good year for Cynthia.

Posted: 1/2/12 at 10:30pmDidn't John Cullum do this for awhile? He was in the first scene of August: Osage County, but thanks to his character's death, was able to appear in an off-Broadway show that held its curtain until 8:30 so he could arrive.

Posted: 1/2/12 at 11:36pmIt does happen once in a while. Nathan Lane starred in The Man Who Came to Dinner and The Producers on Broadway in the same season.

Thanks, Lizzie! Let's see if this works...
Furthering the theory that he does in fact read BWW, Jordan tweeted this:
@JeremyMJordan
Jeremy Jordan Ps totally not mad at bww lol. I yelled at Jeff Calhoun already for spoiling it

Posted: 1/3/12 at 12:28amJeremy's one of the rare stars who doesn't have much to lose by reading these boards; there are naysayers, of course, but the general consensus seems to be that he's a great talent.

He is a wonderful talent - a [straight] leading man quality that Broadway hasn't seen in quite some time. It's refreshing.

As opposed to the [gay] leading man quality that exists everywhere on Brodaway right now?
I remember a number of people here commenting on how he oversang Santa Fe in Newsies but I believe that was only from the rehearsal clips.

Posted: 1/3/12 at 7:10amOk, so he's definitely reading. In that case, hi Jeremy!!! Can't wait to see you in Newsies again. I thought he sang Santa Fe perfectly. Some of the lyric changes were not my favorite, but that's not exactly his fault.

Well, I must say it's interesting timing to open in one show, position yourself as about the only thing worth seeing in it, then have it traveling as a rumour that you're getting ready to star in another, then having the first show close so you *can* be in the second, all in a rather quick turnaround.
I wonder what kind of discussions went on between his agent and the producers of B&C.

None. Jordan himself made it quite clear he wasn't going to be starring in Newsies if Bonnie and Clyde was still running. Plus there was no way the Bonnie and Clyde producers would ever have let their star out of his contract to star in another new musical.

Hmm. Not so sure. After all, the rumours started well before the announcement of B&C's closing.
Just interesting timing.

"as about the only thing worth seeing in it"
That wasn't Jordan, that was van Der Schyff, with Osnes close by.
The women, and their material was slightly better than he was.
Luckily in NEWSIES the girl's role was kinda small (in NJ).
I'm still not sure why there is a girl in NEWSIES at all, that show should be a Bromance, not a romance. The role of Crutchie should be expanded, he just kinda dissapears till the last scene.
He could have one of those Menkin tunes about being the crippled outsider.

Posted: 1/3/12 at 1:03pmI asked Jeremy what he was going to do after Bonnie & Clyde if Newsies was happening and he responded with "nothing is really set in stone". Which I take it to mean that they're working out a paycheck/contract... No?

Posted: 1/3/12 at 1:47pmHe'll get decent billing but DISNEY doesn't like to see anyone's name on the poster but their own.
