I know this is a super first world problem but I lost my Playbill for What the Constitution Means to Me and for Network. Im going back to NYC at the end of April, do you think if I went to the Hayes Theatre and the Belasco, they would just give me a replacement Playbill? (I have all my Playbills for the last 4 years so I dont want to lose any, lol!) or does the Playbill website sell replacements? Thanks!!

If you are super nice to the box office staff, they will likely give you one but it isn’t expected for them to do so.

I went to several theatre box offices on my last trip to NYC in March and asked for Playbills. They were all very nice, one guy even kidded around and said What’s the Magic Word, to which I replied You’re the Greatest, Smartest, Most Handsome...oh, you Meant Please. He laughed and gave me one. I went to eat lunch after collecting them and, you guessed it, left them on the seat next to me at the restaurant. I was crushed.

I’ve also asked politely at box offices for a spare playbill and are usually successful. Another tip would be to go to the theatre after the show gets out and ask an usher for one.

To make it even more compelling, if you still have your ticket stub for each show, show them that, say you loved the show, that your playbill was lost and it would mean a lot of you could get a replacement. That way, you're showing them you actually attended the show rather than some rando just wanting something free. I can't imagine they'll turn you down. If all else fails, show up when the show lets out, subtly walk inside and grab one. If anyone stops you, you forgot a small bag you left by your seat and if they ask, show them your ticket for the show with your thumb covering the date.
