re: Love Never Dies delayed. New Show for Adelphi for Autumn?

I'd like to see Gypsy there for a limited run. Whatever it is I hope its something relatively new, production-wise that is. Heres hoping that whatever it is kicks Love Never Dies out.

" I just was playing devils advocate with Cats and chucked it in the mix, think The Lord will revive Cats in 2011, 10 years after the original closed."

Nope, that'd be 9 years since it closed hehe
It closed 11th May 2002. So today is 28 years exactly since it opened, 7 years to the day it closed.

As a huge Cats fan (don't ask, it was a childhood favourite and I'm a sentimental person), I'd love for it to have a London revival, though I truly believe Cats belongs at the New London Theatre.

Here's hoping that whatever goes ito the Adelphi DOESN'T upset any applecart with regard to "Love Never Dies". Whether anyone likes it or not, actively wishing it ill is pretty disgraceful thinking! Apart from anything else the West End really doesn't need what would be a huge, very public, failure at any time, but certainly not when we are in a major depression.

But re the mentioned JCS tour next year, where is that known from, Devonian.t? I thought the rights had been withdrawn. There was mention of a possible concert version, but that was supposed to have been pulled. And although I have no doubt that ALW wants to revive it for the West End, I am (unfortunately) presuming that he probably intends it to be another reality casting following Wizard Of OZ next year. Would love to see it revived, though, just not like that. It might not be so ridiculous a thought that it could be a fill in for the Adelphi, though. It might not be as convenient as just moving a tour in, but it would depend on how far advanced the plans had got in respect of that pulled tour.

But will a fill in (or a long fill in) be needed at all when the Adelphi is surely scheduled for significant building work. Aren't they amalgamating it with the building next door?

I really thought it had been longer since Cats closed! Not in a bad way just a 'oh really' kind of way.

If that were coming back it would probably be more 'in it's own right' than a filler before the next 'Big One' (Big what of course remains to be seen!)

It's most likely to get filled by something currently touring or a special guest engagment (Like French and Saunders at Drury Lane prior to Oliver) I'd guess. But who knows?

And I agree, wishing the production ill before it even opens is not good, it may not be to everyone's taste, yes it may turn out to be a trainwreck but at least let it open first!

Really! That wouldn't displease me at all! Still a bit surprised though, especially as one presumes general preoccupation with "Love never Dies".

Are we anticipating a fully staged tour or the concert version tour that was touted before? And is this something to do with Marianne Elliott again, or still, or not?

Thank the lord... I hope something worthy of a limited run goes in. If I could have anyting it would be Gypsy or Boy from Oz as I think these would do spuerb for a limited run instead of open ended, alas, I think its unlikley!

It will be something simple that may be on tour now or just two or three limited seasons of one man shows.
Like the Darren Brown season thats about to open there. That may extend or even come back for two or three separate seasons. He's a theatre filler if ever there was one.

Its all a bit last minute so it will be some time until anything is made certain.
'Love Never Dies' was only pulled last week.

re: Love Never Dies delayed. New Show for Adelphi for Autumn?

That the rumoured JCS tour had been pulled was what I had understood from ages ago now. Purportedly, it was in favour of a West End revival at some point instead (albeit personally feared intended to be another reality casting following WOZ). But Devonian.t was claiming an inside track in confirming that RUT are still presuming that plans for a tour (staged or concert?) are in place. But that was RUT as opposed to the RUG. And other than supposing that RUT people might have ears reasonably close to the ground through association (not necessarily true), surely RUT itself would only be involved insofar as how it affects one of their theatres?

And with regard to the Adelphi, albeit I can't imagine that they would choose to have it closed over the Christmas period, what about the building work to extend it? It must have already been factored in, but that will surely have been intended to be tied in with the necessary for "Love ever Dies". So they might still want to wait to uveil it all together. But when would that be now?
