i think the great chance of a show appearance would be the View
after sending messages to Rosie from Patrick, Madeline, and Lois, I think she will definitely get it in her head the show should perform on the View!!

Hate to burst the bubble, but Rosie doesn't have say who the guests are. She can suggest all she wants, but it's all up to the talent coordinator.
Having the cast on would be great publicity, so, here's hoping, either way.
Regis and Kelly should be doing their Broadway week pretty soon....

So I looked on the site after broadway_show_fan mentioned that Ashley Amber seemed to have dropped the "Haase" from her name, and they were right. I hadn't noticed that at first.
I'm surprised that nobody mentioned that Spencer Liff is back in the cast.

Posted: 10/23/06 at 9:39pmI'm pretty sure he's not. He's not scheduled to come back, if the show is still open, until January. But it is true about Ashley changing her name. A little after she got married she dropped Haase. I don't know why she just dropped her last name rather than adding his though.

hmm
so, is January 7th the projected closing date?
i forgot who said that, but yeah, someone did
another person said that it was already announced in Variety that CURTAINS is going to take the theatre
thats depressing
i really hope that our tv suggestions may get through, or maybe casting a new celebrity- anything to save the show!

Weird. He's back up on the website.

Posted: 10/23/06 at 10:15pmGOOD NEWS FOR TWS. THEY JUST HIRED JIM VUKOVICH AS THENEW MUSICAL DIRECTOR. THAT MUST MEAN THEY ARE KEEPING THE SHOW ALIVE. WHY WOULD THEY HIRE SOMEONE OF HIS CALIBER FROM CALIFORNIA, FLY HIM IN AND HAVE HIM TAKE OVER THE SHOW IF THEY WEREN'T GOING TO KEEP IT OPEN. IT'S NOT OFFICIAL YET BUT I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT HE IS IN NEW YORK LEARNING THE SHOW.

Yes, they did hire Jim. He is a FANTASTIC music director/musician/person and will be a great asset to the show....

Posted: 10/23/06 at 10:30pmSHOWS COME AND GO. BUT WHEN YOU HIRE SOMEONE AS GOOD AS JIM YOU ARE PLANNING ON THE SHOW BEING AROUND AWHILE. HE'S TOO GOOD TO WASTE ON A SHOW THAT WON'T BE AROUND.

*head. desk*
FYI, Jimmy was also hired for Hot Feet. Moving on...
#3620re: Love is what we do! - THE WEDDING SINGER appreciation thread.
Posted: 10/23/06 at 10:35pmBesides he was hired as the new "Musical Director" not just the conductor. All shows need conductors just like they need leading actors. This just means the producers think there is a life there for TWS to spend a lot of money for new blood.

I know what Jimmy was hired for.. I have known for a while. Hiring someone because you need someone in that slot doesn't mean that you think the show has life. It means you need someone. All Shook Up pulled in new ensemble people in it's last three weeks of shows.
Don't forget, Wedding Singer is helmed by the producers of Hairspray, where Jimmy did the full 1st national tour.

Posted: 10/23/06 at 10:41pmYes he was hired for HOT FEET and never stepped into the theatre. It was DOA. Here you will see the magic the man can produce with a good show like TWS. He will be able to help move this show up the ladder and make it a show people will continue to want to come and see. Trust in him. He's pretty amazing.

stalker, hun, i have every faith in jilly... but if you keep posting as you are, where your screenname seems to fit, Jimmy won't have the chance to work his 'magic', as you say, since he will from the theatre screaming in terror..
Now, can someone please get back on the topic of Ms Madigan's hair or Spencer's hot pants or SOMETHING

Posted: 10/23/06 at 10:45pmBesides if the producers didn't have confidence in the show they could have just promoted the Assoc Conductor to the position and not spent all the additional money. Let's continue to look at the good side. They are spending some money to keep the show open and improve it and not let it die a slow painful death that could happen. I applaud the producers for their insight.
