And Kevin was on for Peter Kapetan again yesterday! Angelique was on for Adinah, too. *checks another one off the list*
Also yesterday - Seemed like everyone was really hyper. Tina dropped the ring when Richard Blake was supposed to put it on her in "Pop" and my seats were the perfect spot to witness the look of horror on her face when that happened. I could have sworn I heard Stephen Lynch introduce the drummer as "Sexy Jim". Tina randomly decided not to say "Drunky McWasted". And her hair isn't flippy anymore! Stephen Lynch was extra kicky; I think some crap fell out of his bag when he did the leaps in "Not That Kind Of Thing". Constantine asked Kevin Kern as the Priest if he'd been working out. I approve of that adlib because... well, it was directed to Kevin Kern.
hehe nahhh, the chemistry doesn't BEAT the lynch/benanti chemistry by any means, but it darn near matches up to it which it def didn't last time I saw it! haha
i didnt know you saw laura..

r u talking to me? i saw laura cause i went opening weekend :)
she was AMAZING!!! shes one of the main reasons i love the show as much as i do!!

Ooh, you know I'm gigglin' over here now.

Let's put it this way: their chemistry is different. Laura's take on Julia is too different from Tina's for there to be any sort of competition on who has the beatable chemistry with Lynch. I've seen both Laura and Tina and I prefer Tina as Julia, but if we're going to talk who she has the best chemistry with? It's Kevin as Robbie, handsdown. Haha.

Here's a question I've had for a while:
I'm dying to see Laura as Julia, but I wonder since she plays her with a fairly heavy NJ accent (from what I understand) is it weird that Robbie's one of the few characters on stage without one? I mean Holly and Sammy have an accent too...George doesn't...but it seems like most of them would except Robbie.
For anyone that saw it with Laura, did that bother you? Or I'm probably just reading too much into it, haha.
George doesn't have one. If Rosie has one, I've never noticed it. I don't think Glen has one, either. I can't remember how thick Laura's accent was.. so I can't help you there. But I guess it sort of balances out with who does have an accent and who doesn't? It's just never been distracting to me in the least, so I've never really paid attention! LOL

I think I just heard about it and was like "Oh, I wonder if it's weird that Robbie doesn't have one" and then it just manifested itself into like "it's got to be SO weird!" Like wondering it but not being able to find out for myself made it some huge question.
I would guess that if I saw it again and Laura was there, I'd be so happy to just BE there and enjoying the show, I'd forget all about it.
Still, it's good to hear what you guys think, too.
I remember thinking her accent was cute but it wasn't super heavy or distracting - I actually never really thought about it until someone mentioned that she had one. It sounded really natural in context.

That's audience growth. Size doesn't matter....it's sales that does. While they were still under break-even, they improved very much.
Okay, good start. Let's keep improving.
That was the top increase for the week. Glad this show is finally getting seen like it should.
I saw it last week and absolutley loved it. Its funny, well paced, the actors are well cast for their roles, and it gives you a good feeling the whole time you're watching it.
I didn't think I'd like the music as much as I did, but there were a lot of songs that keep going through my head. Must buy the soundtrack. I'll probably go back to see it again - liked it that much.
BTW - its rare that the audience immediately goes into a standing O as soon as the ending notes are sounding. But it was certainly well deserved.

Sigh. Kevin Kern.

I'm happy to hear about the growth. I don't post much but do read this thread daily. I hope it keeps up!
Tomorrow night the play will have someone other than Constantine play Sammy as he will be singing with his new band at the Viper Room in LA and I will be there with my friends, cheering him on.
Yesterday was his birthday which is why there were so many fans waiting at the stage door.

oh, I wonder whom will be his understudy tomorrow...hmm

I was wondering why Matt Allen was growing out his facial hair. I think he was the second cover when David Josefberg was still in the cast. I don't think Andy Karl has learned Sammy, but I could be wrong.

Matt Allen will be on as Sammy tomorrow. If anyone goes--post your thoughts! I can't make it there myself to see.

to be perfectly honest with you, i didnt even notice the accent until my friend mentioned it during intermission and even then i didnt notice it because i had forgotten by the time all about the green was over. and i dont see why having the accent is such a bad thing, i mean, they are in new jersey. i dont know, peoples opinions differ. but i didnt notice the accent.
and yay for wedding singer grosses!! its a GREAT start!!

yeah, i didnt even notice the accent
i thought it was just a cute way Laura talked :)
I love the New Jersey accent. It make the show a little more believable.
I'm also pretty sure it';s authentic, considering that she's from Jersey.
I made avatars! I'm Katherine, in case it shows the whole thread.
Avatars!
Yippee on the grosses! That's what I wanted to see. I hope it keeps up.
