I saw a local college production of it. The performers were, well, okay
actors, but the singing (out side of the girl who sang "Fancy Meeting You Here" who was good, but likely didn't have much vocal training) was horrendous. The piece itself, however, is good, not great. You can tell that it was very early in the partnership of A&F (their first, as a matter of fact), but you can still tell that it was A&F. If I were a producer in the early 80's watching a workshop of Lucky Stiff, I'm not entirely sure I would put money into it, but I would be sure to watch out for all of their future works.
My thoughts are, if you have the right people with the right attitude, go for it!
