Wondering if anyone has ever seen a production of Lucky Stiff by Flaherty and Ahrens?
Were looking into it and wondered what peoples thoughts were on entertainment value?
Any insight would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Zimmy

I've been in a production before. I love the show and had a blast doing it.
The audiences seemed to be very entertained by the zany plot.

Posted: 7/9/06 at 4:45pmI was in it last year. It's really entertaining if it's done right. Just have to make sure the audience can hear everything since the plot gets confusing and odd!

Posted: 7/9/06 at 5:17pmI was just in a production of it with my local theatre group in March. It's a lot of fun and over the top. It's not a show where you can hold anything back.

I saw a local college production of it. The performers were, well, okay actors, but the singing (out side of the girl who sang "Fancy Meeting You Here" who was good, but likely didn't have much vocal training) was horrendous. The piece itself, however, is good, not great. You can tell that it was very early in the partnership of A&F (their first, as a matter of fact), but you can still tell that it was A&F. If I were a producer in the early 80's watching a workshop of Lucky Stiff, I'm not entirely sure I would put money into it, but I would be sure to watch out for all of their future works.
My thoughts are, if you have the right people with the right attitude, go for it!

Posted: 7/9/06 at 7:26pmI adore Lucky Stiff! It's small. When done right it can be perfect! It's camp and cheese but a whole lot of fun!

jamman - where did you see it? I feel as though I may have seen the same one as you.
I've seen it twice, and been in it once. I love it, it's campy and cute and fun. :)

Posted: 7/9/06 at 8:15pmI Adore Lucky Stiff! I just recently saw a version of it performed by a theater guild in Wisconson. Very entertaining and not a horribly expensive show to put on. I really enjoyed it and laughed the entire time.

Thanks for the great feedback guys!
I welcome more!
Also is it reasonable to do this with a minimal set and a csat of 10 as listed? Or does it need to be bigger?
Thanks in advance,

tumadre2, I saw it at Saint Louis University at a student only performance - there was only one (maybe two) other school(s) there at our show.
Zimmy, if you do much more than a minimal set, it might not be as good. Half of the potential charm of it is how minimal it is. And you could cast more than 10 people, but there wouldn't be that much for the rest to do.
