Posted: 5/7/06 at 11:00pmI saw a production of Lucky Stiff last year, and I totally forgot all about it, and now I am looking to buy the cast recording, but there are two of them out there. Which one you recommend? Like does one have better performances on it, better orchestrations, ect . . . any help would be greatly appreciated

Posted: 5/8/06 at 12:04amI only have the original concept case with Evan Pappas, Mary Testa, Jason Graae, and Debbie Gravitte. I'd relaly like to hear the original recording, the one I have doesn't have "A Woman In My Bathroom".

Posted: 5/8/06 at 12:32amHurm, I might have to listen to some of the same tracks off both albums, because orchestrations are a clincher for me most of the time. Maybe I should just get both of them and save myself the stress.

Posted: 5/8/06 at 10:49ami have a very old copy of a demo featuring annie golden as the dog loving heroine. julie white was the original, but deemed not such a hot singer so they went with judy blazer for the cast recording.

Posted: 5/8/06 at 11:45amThe original recording with Evan Pappas is far superior, in my opinion. The performances are fantastic.

I love this recording, and wish I had seen it on stage.
Mary Testa...love her...just how she says Monte Carlo.
"In Oz, the verb is douchifizzation." PRS

Every word and note that comes out of Mary Testa's mouth on the original recording is pure gold.
"And nobody say a word about my glasses! I look awful in them, don't I? SHUT UP!"
And Debbie Gravitte's Speaking French is utterly delightful.
"May I have a blue spotlight please? Thank you."
Now I really have to break out this CD again...

Posted: 5/8/06 at 1:47pmThe most recent recording, with Malcolm Gets, on JAY records, features piano accompaniment only. So if you want "orchestrations" you have no option.

Posted: 5/14/06 at 7:32pmThanks mallardo, I might just end up getting both of them. And then make a mix CD of the songs I like the best from each recording. And yay for you avatar mallardo!
