Lysistrata Jones ... ?

Even if it's not nominated, the fact that it is on Broadway will help with the sales of amateur licensing alone. It's easier to get amateur licenses for shows when you're able to say that the show has been on Broadway.

Look at Newsies for example. When it opened up at Pappermill it was to be a test run for the amateur version of the show that Disney had been working on. It's moving to Broadway because it did well in Jersey. But, they will do better with licensing of the show simply because it was on Broadway. There are more licenses for shows that were on Broadway than weren't. And, it helps to be able to say that when your licensing out your show. No one in that regard cares how long its been on Broadway. Just the fact that it's been on Broadway period.

Could be just to keep Lyssie in people's minds for when they release the cd.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Well, yes, of course the fact that its been on broadway (even for one performance) is the selling point, but I, possibly without stressing the fact, meant that keeping their social networking abuzz, and with the Tony awards possibly nominating, it will furthermore affect licensing. Especially with the CD that is almost confirmed.

Probably true, playitagain - you would have to be a complete and utter moron to put a dollar into moving this proven turkey back into town.

But of course, we all have come to realize how many utter morons there are out there who will put their money into ANY turkey (like Wonderland, Bonnie and Clyde, Dracula, etc., etc., etc.).

They've repeatedly tweeted today to check the website tomorrow at 1PM for some big announcement. I'm so curious now.

I know that they have recorded clips of the numbers, and that they are doing the cast album; maybe a release date? Maybe something about a tour...probably not, but they have lots of scenery pieces that could easily tour. But like I said, I just pulled that out of my ass.

Lysistrata Jones ... ?

With the present bruhaha in politics regarding contraception, womens' reproductive rights, etc., I noticed today when reading an article on the subject, that a commenting poster suggested that "Republican women should stage a private 'Lysistrata' with their husbands and maybe also turn Democrat." Naturally, I thought about LYSISTRATA JONES and how it had closed prior to this resurrected political debate. Obviously, it could not compete in the Broadway marketplace, but perhaps re-mounting (pardon the pun) Off-Broadway is not a bad idea at this time.

LYSISTRATA JONES

I don't know why I have such an outpouring goodwill towards this show. OK, I like contemporary spins on the classics, so that has something to do with it. Jason Tam definitely has something to do with it. It just feels to me like "the little show that should", even if it couldn't sustain a commercial run on Broadway.

I'm glad to see the news about the "varsity edition" for schools. It seems like an ideal vehicle for schools and it is encouraging to see the concerns about reaching that market addressed by the writers themselves so that the show will retain its integrity despite being adapted.
