Yes, they are going to announce that they are going to move into New World Stages, taking over the space from Naked Boys Singing.

They're still updating their Tumblr, too. Very interesting.

As much as I would love to say that I have some inside scoop on this, I don't. I was just playing and never intended to be serious in my last post. However, now that I think of it it would't surprise me if what I said turned out to be true. After all, stranger things have happened and it does seem like New World Stages is turning into the Off Broadway home for former Broadway shows. And, I do find it interesting that they are still updating their twitter feed as well as their Tumblr account despite having been closed for awhile.

maybe they're just keeping interest alive for the potential cast recording?

Lysistrata Jones was a recent Broadway musical.

Chewy knew that...it was his brand of humor. (It's often wise to lurk around before posting on a board with which you are unfamiliar -- folks around here will pounce on you.)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Well ... it's good to post the trailer anyway. A great show - I have lots of love for it.

I wish it would come back.
I saw it three times. It was nice to see an original, starless musical. Shame it could not find the audience it deserved.

It was based on a play, so no more original than musicals based on non-musical movies.

Well, actually yes it is.
This was an adaptation of a greek play, that gave it new circumstances, a new setting and new stories that were INSPIRED by the original. Not to mention an original score....
Staging a musical out of the exact same story, characters, setting etc. is not nearly as original. Especially when you add a jukebox score. (Priscilla, anyone?)

You can not compare it to a movie based musical.
Lyssie has different characters & different setting - with a similar concept to the play (from 411 BC).
All original music (which is very catchy) ... and it's modern.

Anyone see their latest tweet? From this morning!
"Check out this awesome teaser from the OFF-BROADWAY
run of Lysistrata Jones!"
Now why would they be posting that now..?
I think this theory is highly a possibility.

THey also tweeted something about how there's still a poster on 40th street and "they're not dead yet." I'm thinking this New World Stages theory might be true!

Weird. Wonderland still posts on Facebook, though.

I interpreted the "not dead yet!" tweet as being about the fact that there were still posters up advertising the show... If there is any reason that they're still posting, it's probably for the cast recording.

I don't know if I would call Lysistrata Jones moving to New World Stages to be a theory. The only person who said anything about this show opening back off Broadway was me, and I believe that I already stated that I
pulled that story out of my backside.

Today, they promoted their website on twitter.
There is a cast album part, which says:
Information on the cast album will be available really soon! Keep on checking back!
And now there is a license page.
Ugh I'd love for this to go to New World. To me, it deserves it.

Maybe its just keeping in the picture until tonys? If its nominated.. it could help sell licenses.
