Yup. For those who can't wait for the DVD of MAMMA MIA: The Movie... here is the deleted "The Name of the Game" number.

As many know... this number was filmed and seen in early test screenings of the film but was taken out of the final cut/theatrical release of the film.

not bad , but it kinda bothers me that the song is sung during the beginning of Gimme Gimme Gimme , I guess some could argue it is Sophie's version of "Winner Takes it All" her own personal serenade of forgiveness or whatever she is yelping about.

Obviously the film worked. But more time and more flexibility in comparison to the musical should have been in placed. I am satisfied with regards to a sequel the producers turned down the offer. It would probably be rushed and very unorganized.

But after its GIGANTIC success some sort of spin off will eventually happen. That's Commercial Entertainment for ya...

Still to this day I think many of the songs that are in the musical/movie were poor choices from the Library of songs from ABBA.

Love the song, and Amanda sounds great, but this was definitely a wise cut.

Deena - You took the words right out of my mouth. The way it was directed and filmed set the wrong tone completely. It looked like she was trying to seduce him. It had that romantic moonlight swim feel to it.

great song but THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL is still the best song. I liked it before the show and I will like it after the show.

I agree that the song has a definite sexual overtone that is inappropriate. But it is very well performed.

DVD came out in Australia this week.

UK release date is November 24, 2008
North America (US & Canada) release date is December 16, 2008

If that is any indication of the voices in the film, I will not be buying the DVD. Her voice grates on my ears. I really like the stage version, but with this girl and Brosnan, I will skip the DVD entirely.

She sounds pretty good in this, but it is so dark!

It reminds me of what somebody said about the whole ending sequence to the original "Star Trek" film (1979): "It looks like a documentary about coat hangars, shot in a dim closet."

I also echo the thoughts about the tone being wrong.
